For the last week or so, when I'm out and about, I've switched my carry gun from a S&W 642 Airweight to a S&W 4506. For those of you that are not familiar with it, the 4506 is a full-sized, DA/SA, all-stainless, .45 cal auto. This gun weighs in at a shade under 3 lbs fully loaded.
Since it's winter here, I wear a full length coat and found that with the right belt (2" wide Tommy Hilfiger, $5 at TJ Maxx) and holster (Gould and Goodrich pancake high-ride w/thumbreak - $15 from eBay) I can carry this all day long at 8:00 (I'm a lefty) and barely notice it.
I'm thinking of making this my full time winter carry gun. I figure as long as I can stand the weight, and can wear clothing to hide it, why not carry as much gun as I can?
Like my combat handgun instructor said, "Rule No. 1 is, Have a gun. Rule No. 2 is, Have a gun with a caliber that starts with a 4."
Anybody else out there consistently carry an anvil like this?
