Yeah, I know, another "what do you carry" type thread. But, it's Monday, and many folks enjoy reading and commenting on these threads..

If you carry both a primary and BUG....

What is your primary and how is it carried?

What is your BUG and how is it carried?

Do you always carry the BUG?

My primary is a Para PXT SSP .45 in a Galco IWB Royal guard or Galco OWB JIT w/ Galco double mag pouch. The belts are a tan Gould and Goodrich and a black Law Pro.

My alternate primary is a Glock G30 .45 in a Galco IWB RG or a Don Hume OWB
w/ Dillon leather double mag pouch.

For my BUG. I always carry a S&W J frame model 36 in a Safariland pocket holster. I carry my primary at 4'oclock, mag pouches at 8'oclock, cell phone at 10'oclock, and a 4" 'gentlemans folder' clipped on the right pocket. My BUG is being carried in my left pocket. I'm curious as to others strategies on where to carry the BUG. One reason for the left side pocket is that if my right hand gets taken out of commission, there it is for the left hand. Another not so good reason is my pocket knife on the right tends to scratch the grip and interfere with a draw if the BUG is carried on the right.

The only time I don't carry the J frame is if I am not wearing the right type of pants. In other words, jogging shorts, pants w/ no pockets, etc. I've also got a KT P32. But my wife carries that around as her BUG. It runs without a hitch, but I hate the trigger pull on that thing.

Thanks for putting up with my long post. I look forward to everyone's input.

For primary, I carry either a Springfield 1911 or a makarov(depending upon season) IWB crossdraw. For backup, a Beretta Tomcat .32 in strong side pocket. :D

I do not always have the BUG with me, however.

While technically, an arachnid, I do carry a "bug", a tarantula IWB at about 11 'o clock crossdraw.

I found that, while some criminals are scared of guns, few are scared of death, while nearly all criminals are scared of a good ol' big hairy spider.

In the unlikely event that I should have to expend all of my ammo in an assault, I feel that the tarantula is a more effective "last line of defense" than some .380 pea-shooter.

You really can't dispute the sheer terror on that girl's face.

No...I carry one firearm and one reload for it, be it revolver or semi-auto. Too small body wise. I have enough of a problem hiding one gun, let alone two. Besides I have my daily supplies in all of my pockets and there isn't room for a spare gun...

Primary gun is either a 1911 or BHP carried on the strong side hip.

BUG is a Colt Cobra or Detective Special carried in a Desantis ankle rig.

When carrying a full sized gun is not an option, then I have an FEG R61 (9mm Mak PPK copy) in the right front pocket and the same BUG.

I have all ways carryed 2 Revolvers. Lately I have a 357 main gun backed up by a Glock 26 in my back pocket.
Reloads for each.

BUG

Primary is a Kimber 1911 .45 and BUG is the Tactical Shotgun in locked rack inside the trunk. I used to carry a Colt Mustang .380 in an ankle holster but I stopped because I have yet to an ankle holster that is actually comfortable and does not chafe.

I usually carry a 1911 in a IWB on my strong side and a rossi .38 on my weak side ankle. I don't always carry a BUG, only when I get a feeling or suspicion that things may not be good

Nope. I'm not a cop, I don't go places that invite trouble, and my "be prepared" has logical limits, that don't include ultimate worst case or paranoid scenarios.

I only carry a 5-shot j 99% of the time, no reloads (unless you count the 15 rounds still in the box in my glove compartment).

Only one time I carried my Glock 26 in addition, and it was when I was forced to go into a very bad area to check on a real estate project. It's the only time where I thought to myself 5 shots just didn't provide enough comfort (worried that drug addicts may have broken into the house and stayed)...

Yes I do carry both, a S&W 457 -45acp and a Rossi 461-2" 357mag. Somethimes I carry a Tarrus 608- 4'' 357 in place of the 457.

As for which is the primary, it depends on which one I reach for first...:)

In addition to my Primary Carry which varies depending on circumstances and how I feel, my NAA Black Widow is always with me! :)

1911, strongside, IWB; bug is either another 1911 (I like big bugs, what can I say), Weakside, MOB. Don't always carry a second, depends on circumstances & whereabouts. Occasionally substitue a PT111 in the summer.

Always carry a KT P32.

Primary could be anything. If conditions permit there is a Kahr MK40 as a backup gun, but the P32 is still somewhere on my person.

Highly unlikely you'll find me without a .45 acp as my primary.

Three rules of gunfighting: Bring a gun; bring plenty of ammo; bring another gun.

Primary is changeable depending on my mood but BUG is either P3AT or Taruas 605 in left front pocket. Exceptions being my Glock 36 that is my single carry favorite and it goes in the left front or an IWB strong side. Federal HydoShocks go in all. 230 gr in the .45 ACPs, 90 gr in the .380 and 135 gr .38 +P in the .357 for controlability. Not enamored with the .380 but the Kel-Tek is so light you forget its there. Besides, any gun is better that fists.

I carry a Glock 19 with one reload as a primary. It rides at 4:00 in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard.

I've recently acquired a S&W 642 for use as a BUG or when dress does not allow me to carry the G19. I carry it strong side front pocket, currently in a DeSantis Nemesis while my Mika pocket holsters are on order. I do not always carry the BUG; I usually carry it when I need to go out at night or when I will be in or passing through an unsafe area (lots of those in Houston).

"Do you carry a BUG? What and where?"

Yes. A S&W 340M&P. Everywhere.
