What Is Your Most Accurate Handgun?

I've never really tested a firearm for accuracy in it's own right, but as a gun / shooter combo my 4" S&W Model 19-3 and I are pretty good. At 10 yards we manage a dead center 2.5 inch group of 12 shots in 11 seconds without the use of a speedloader. Both the gun and I have fired a lot of rounds to make this possible.

beretta 92FS.... super accurate out of the box and can eat up the 10x out to 30 meters with no problems...

second accurate is the ruger 22/45 mk III with 4" target barrel ....

Box stock 1953 Romanian TT33. I'm too lazy to shoot targets, but its accurate enough to shoot keys off a junk keyboard at 20 yards.

Most accurate rimfire pistol-Ruger Mk.II with a 5 1/2" bull barrel

Most accurate centerfire pistol-Colt Combat Commander from Colts Custom Gun Shop.

... all original.

25 Yards, double action 2 hand hold unsupported. 1 shot every 5 to 7 seconds. 158 grain RNL and 4.0 grns W231. 3" overall grouping. Excluding 1st two shots (high), after grip adjustment, the final 4 shots (low) went into a 1.25" grouping.

That's pretty doggone good shoot'n.

My Model 14-2 S&W .38 Special Target Masterpiece, a gun I luckily inherited. I've used it to train friends and family members on pistol shooting and marksmanship fundamentals partly to instill confidence (even gun-shy beginners can hit center-mass consistently with this piece) and partly because I can analyze their problems more precisely when I study the target patterns. The fault is never with this revolver. It has the sweetest trigger of any weapon I've ever fired.

Strangely enough, my cap-and-ball Pietta Navy '61 .36 cal. is my next most accurate. It fits naturally in the hand, points like a dream.

1st - Ruger MKII Target (6 7/8 tapered barrel) - routinely groups under 1" at 25 yards (bench rested) with Winchester Super-X .22. 2nd - (tie) Ruger GP100 6" full lug barrel and Ruger Super Redhawk 9.5" barrel (with scope) - routine 1" groups at 25 yards with a variety of full power and mid-range handloads, running .357 (not 38 .special) in the GP100.

As far as revolvers go, I would have to agree with you on the model 14 Target Master. I have an old 1958 with a 4"bbl that is fantastic. The only time I have trouble getting tight groups with it is when I've downed way too much coffee before an early trip to the range. S&W sure did put out some accurate revolvers. Don't know much about newer models. Haven't shot any of them lately. The newest S&W I have is a '74.

Of all my auto's, my Norinco 1911. Over all,my S&W 6" 686 is probably more accurate when shooting out to 50yds. Scoped, it's the Super Redhawk with 180 gr. handloads.

Friends Kimber Eclipse custom 2 Target pistol in 10mm

Guy who he bought it from was a serious comp shooter for 50yd Handgun

High Standard Double Action .22LR Nine Shot w/6 inch barrel.

It is the handgun I shoot best. There is a desert area that unfortunately has had a lot trash thrown out in. Actually, people have been trying to clean the area up. There are still old tin cans all over the place and nice dirt trails zig- zagging all over the area. It is a plinkers heaven.

Offhand, out to about 25 yards, I can hit most cans within one or two shots. This afternoon I was walking around another area. Someone had shot some clay targets on the side of this dirt mound. I was about 15 yards away. With the same revolver, I was easily making the clay target pieces smaller and smaller.

I know there is a lot of controversy over using rimfire handguns for self defense. Granted, they are not the best. But, if I kept my cool, I could put all nine rounds into a persons face at any distance the qualifies as a self defense distance.
