I had this question buried in a reply to another thread, so thought I should post it seperately:

What JHP ammo have any of you guys had luck (good or bad) with in your XDs .45?

Federal 230 gr HydraShoks worked in mine before, but are not reli
able in it now.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Why not the Federal ?
Haven`t got mine back yet, befor I sent it in, I ran two hunderd of the Speer Gold Dots and REM. Golden Sabers all 230gr without issue.
For range work, 200gr lswc (my target loads). The XDs I have, DID , feed anything. Hopefully nothing will have changed, when it comes back.

Before I sent it back I was using 185gr plated truncated cones from Bullet Works over a max load of Titegroup for the range. For social work I used Hornady 185 XTPs.

I highly agree with Thompsoncustom. Underwood Ammo's Gold Dot loads are the shiznit in any size round. They are my favorite round regardless of the caliber I've shot. .38, 9mm, 10mm, .45ACP, etc. I generally prefer a heavier gr bullet so I say 230 gr for .45 ACP, but I do think a 185 gr bullet does work pretty well in .45 ACP also. I believe I like the Underwood loads even better than my previous favorite which was the Winchester Ranger.

Here's a link. Unfortunately out of stock at the moment.

Mine eats anything. I carry Hornady TAP 230 gr +p's in mine because they group well and should get the job done fine.

Mine loves Federal 230-gr +P HSTs. They chronograph ~875 FPS. That's plenty fast enough for good expansion.

Thanks for all the responses. Tried the Rem Golden Saber 230 gr yesterday and they worked flawlessly. That'll be my carry round.
