My father in law left this 12 Gauge Browning and its 20 Gauge twin with me to use. Can anyone tell me what model it is? It does not have a model name but it does say "browning" on the bottom of the receiver. It has the standard "special steel" markings and patent numbers but it does not say much else. It has fixed chokes. Any help would be appreciated I'm too prod to tell him I don't know :)

One of John Moses Brownings finest creations.....the "Superposed" shotgun. In French Superposed means to set something over or above another. Looks like you have the standard model, the high grades (engraved) are big bucks. You sir are a fortunate person to have one of these fine shotguns in your possession. Became so costly to produce these for the general market that Browning offered a cheaper version (Citori) made in Japan....but they still make the more expensive Superposes in Belgium.

tt, My knowlege is minimal. My stepfathers dad had one of those. I would only be guessing, I know the Brownings were made in Belgium before Japan.
Someone will be along to tell you what you have. Beautiful gun though.

C55

PS, I have the cheaper version. (Citori) May be cheaper but I love it just the same.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Cant wait to get home and find the numbers. I noticed one stamped on the inside of the reciever. Is that where I look?

You were given two very nice firearms and they look in nice shape , wipe the metal surfaces down lightly with some gun oil now and then and enjoy.

Both were made in 1964. they look almost brand new. especially the 12. The 20 is a lightning. Very cool. Better get out and shoot em before he takes 'em back
