I need your opinions and what are the best options. I am just looking for a decent setup to mount a light to an AR 15 with the standard hand-guard.

Magpul rail section, VTAC mount. The total set up with the G2 LED light and everything cost me almost exactly $100. It's rock solid too and you can mount on ANY spot you want.

I went with RockyMnttacticals way myself,

I am kinda interested in that fab defense bayo lug thing tho... humm...

The Elzetta mount is cool, because you can push forward on the sling swivel and it activates the flashlight :)

But in the end I didnt like it, and a 2 o clock mount worked better for me.

The Elzetta mount works very good but they also make a rail that can be mounted to your handguard and then mount the light to the rail. I would go with the elzetta its a good sturdy mount.

Putting it on the side of the front sight tower is a better position for lighting and doesn't get in the way. A rail is less than $30.

I've had the Elzetta for a few years. Used it on several firearms course to include LEO night qualifications. Never had an issue.

It attaches using the existing holes, gives you two mounting points, and puts the light in a handy location from your hand. I used a Streamlight TLR-3 on mine and the switch was directly above my thumb.

Oh, it's a Mako so some may not care for it. Work great for me and is inexpensive.

I have a Surefire M500A Weaponlight on my M4 named "Fat Bob".

On my other M4, "Skinny Bob", I use a GG&G "SLiC Thing" and a SureFire G3 flashlight. With a flashlight I prefer it to be mounted as far forward as possible for comfort.

I prefer my light to be at the 2 o'clock position (when viewed from from behind), so that when I roll out from behind a barricade the light isn't shining directly into the barrier and into my eyes.

I prefer the Command Arms front sight mount for my M-4s, like the one benEzra shows in his post. Switch is right there by my thumb...

I don't care for tapeswitches at all. I prefer to use a Daniel Defense offset mount to manipulate the tailcap switch with my thumb from a vertical foregrip.
