do you have no interest in? For me it is .243, and until recently the 22-250. Both are fairly common and yet have held no interest for me. Also the entire line of wsm/wssm cartridges. What are yours?
On the other hand if you don't hunt, but want to throw heavy bullets out to 1,000 yards and beyond (without excessive pressures or wear on the gun), the .30-06, and especially the .30-06 Improved are a VERY good way to do it, and without the ridiculously short barrel life of the magnums.Got no use for the .30-06, even though everybody and their uncle has one. That's reason enough for me. There are better, smaller, more efficient deer cartridges and better cartridges for larger game. The `06 is just too in-between.
