Another M1 carbine owner here. I have a WW2 Inland in an older Federal Ordnance (I think) underfolder with 10 30-round mags as a SHTF grab-and-go defensive gun. I just wish that S&W or Ruger would make a double action revolver (Taurus did but I didn't like it; they have questionable quality control too based on my experiences through owning a couple of their pistols) to complement the rifle. As for the Mini-14, if you're considering getting one then look at the GB model. Factory flash hider and front sight mounted midway on the barrel. I have one with a factory folding stock (came that way from Ruger) and it is a reliable rifle, but nowhere near as fun as the M1 carbine!
