I've got some of those 60 grain .22LR rounds from agular and got to wondering what kind of performance you'd get if you used those bullets in a .22 mag. The 60 grain rounds are actually packed into a .22short case so they have very little powder behind them. I know the .22lr and .22mag shoot the same sized round so that shouldn't be a problem. You'd just have to transfer the bullet from the .22 short case to the .22mag case and you'd be in business.
I don't even have a reason to do it. It just popped into my head and I got to wondering about it. Lets assume that the rifling in the barrel already has a twist rate high enough to handle the extra weight. What kind of performance would you get from this kind of set up and what would you use it for in the real world?
