I've looked into the 15-22, but from what I can tell they only make 22lr mags for them. I own a .22short mag, but I doubt it'd work with an AR-15.

I don't think it would operate as a semi automatic. Just not enough power to cycle the bolt.

If it is for an AR 15 why don't you think it would work?

Volquartsen makes one for the 10/22 for shorts with their conversion.

A poor solution to a small problem. Ar's suck at close range even with long rifle...high sights etc.

The bullets in it refuse to load into the gun. Also, it only holds, like, 3 or 4 rounds.

.22 Short goes for sometimes 2x what .22 LR does. Perhaps a trade or outright sale on Armslist.

There are several semi autos that will cycle those shorts. Remington 550-1, and 552 Speedmaster come to mind. I've never seen a kit for an AR to shoot shorts though.

Find a nice old Remington rifle. A 572 Fieldmaster would be another fine choice, a trombone action rifle.

What is the mag made to fit??

Just because you have a .22 Short mag doesn't mean it will work in anything besides the gun it was designed for.

Likely the .22 short mag you have is made to fit one of the old bolt action combo 22's that take 22 short/22 long/22 long rifle. Once in a while you can find 22 short ammo in the stores and it usually cost more than 22LR.

HIGHLY doubt there is a 22 short AR out there. Your best bet is to identify what the mag originally goes to, and maybe find that rifle on the used market if you really want to shoot 22 shorts. I have an old 30's Remington .22 and the shorts are fun to plink with and are hearing safe.
