If you had $1000 to spend on a revolver what would you get? No particular use in mind just something you have wanted. New or old, current manufacture or an oldie, oddball caliber or black powder. Please no "I would get a .......and a lot of ammo". I'm leaning toward an original 1877 Colt in 41 colt.

If you can find an original 1877 Colt in .41 Colt for $1000, you'd better hurry right over and buy it! Take some extra cash and get some Powerball tickets on the way home.

Myself, a 6" S&W 586, 686, or Model 19, in that order. With target sights.

I've got most of my revolver "needs" taken care of, so if $1k were the limit at this point, I'd buy a 3-1/2" Model 27. North of $1k, it'd be a Freedom Arms .44mag.

I'd buy a S&W 296 or 696 .44 Special or 2 Ruger New Vaquero revolvers in bright stainless with 5.5" barrels in .357 Magnum

I would go like Rondog 586,686 or 19/66 w/6" bl.. I reload 38/357 now for other revolvers and my 38/357 Rossi 92 so It would fit in.

I'd get the one I already have; S&W 686-4 Performance Center, 7-shot.

It's a pre-MIM, pre-lock, 7-shot. It may not be the prettiest knife in the drawer, but it's a dream to shoot and remarkably accurate. It cost me $775 plus tax (9.5%) so it's knocking on the $1k door, no regrets.

I love the look and feel of my S&W's, but I keep breaking them despite using Snap-Caps. The firing pins are the worst. Hammer mounted hammer noses break from dry fire and finding one for a Model 24 is nearly impossible. The internal pins break even more frequently. I've broken four so far. Of the S&W guns, my favorite is the 625/25. I like the Model 27/627/327 revolvers too. However, I'm starting to appreciate the 686 despite its diameter-challenged magnum cartridge.

However, I would choose either a Ruger Alaskan, GP-100 4" barrel or Ruger Redhawk with 4" barrel. The Ruger guns seem to hold up to my dry fire regimen.

Down payment on a Registered Magnum? :) Nah, I'd have too much trouble coming up with the additional 3-4K.

Okay, how about a nice 3" or 5" M-27, or a pre-27?

I had a nice M25-2 that had a bunch of Hamilton Bowen love done to it. Sold it because I couldn't bear to carry/scratch it. However, if I were spending someone else's $1000, I might just be able to buy it back and store it in the safe...and shoot it once a year or so.

S&W 696, 629, or 29.

I'd really like a Uberti break top replica, but I've heard mixed reviews.

Ruger super redhawk alaskan in good ole 44 mag.

Looks like it could get the job done, and I dont need anymore reloading kit !

I've wanted a carry 44 for some time- and that one is just my style.

I believe I'd get a Ruger GP 100. Less than a grand and a damn fine shooter to boot Should last about 5 lifetimes too. If $were not an issue (haha) I'd get a Python just to have one.

I think I'd go with a Ruger Redhawk Alaskan in .454 Casull, then have the cylinder modded to allow .45 ACP to also be fired, so I'd have a 3-caliber, big-bore snubby! Not really needed for anything, but just 'cause I like big-bore, short-barreled revolvers.

Dirty Bob

I would find a S&W 581 and send it off to be round butted, barrel shortened to 3" with a gold bead front sight installed, moon-clipped and chamfered charge holes, front of the cylinder chamfered, and some nice semi checkered grips with a Tyler
T grip.

I can think of three I'd pick up for that price. Total. :) I don't actually have a high-dollar wheelgun need.

Maybe pick up a used X-Frame .500 if I cold find one round about that price, just to play with -- but I don't actually need one or want one that much.
