What Sd ammo do you carry.

I use federal HST 124 g +p in 9 mm
speer 135 short barrel in my 38
Hornady critical defence in mt LCP

anyone done test let my know.
I liked the way the 380 golden saber expanded in my water test only problem it hung up a few times in my LCP when loading the first round so I don't trust it as a SD round.
The speer short barrel is awsome compared to other 38 ammo.
the HST opens up nice also

In the 9mm (G17), it's currently the Hornady 147 gr. XTP JHPs.

The .45 (an HK USP45) is loaded with Hornady 230 gr. XTP +P JHPs.

"Heavy-for-caliber" all the way around for me. :)

In my three most-frequently-carried guns: Kel-Tec PF9, Remington-UMC 115-grain JHP. Kel-Tec P32, Fiocchi 73-grain FMJ. Service revolver (Ruger Police Service Six or Taurus M66), Remington-UMC 125-grain SJHP in +P .38 Special.

Not-so-frequently carried: Bersa Thunder 380, Remington-UMC 88-grain JHP. Grendel P10 (.380), Remington-UMC 95-grain FNEB.

Remington-UMC ammunition is, to me, reliable in all my guns in which it's used, readily available (and affordable), which allows plenty of practice, and I can hit with it. Nothing "hi-po" or "trendy", but I trust it to get the job done, should I ever need to.

I run Corbon DPX in 9mm 115 +p or DPX .40 cal 140 for edc and DPX 9mm 95 standard velocity or Speer Gold Dot 9mm 147 for silenced/indoor use.

I'm stocked up, but if I had to look at other options, I'm completely comfortable with both of the quieter and subsonic options for edc but prefer the Speer Gold Dot 9mm 124 +p, Remington Golden Sabre 9mm 124 +p, Winchester Ranger-T 9mm 127 +p+, Ranger-T 9mm 124 +p, Ranger bonded 9mm 124 +p, Ranger-T 147, Remington Golden Sabre 9mm 147 in that order.

All of the above have proven extremely effective with proper targeting.

I've only tried the Hornady Critical besides Cor-Bon in .40, but I'm betting one can be much less selective than with 9mm and find lots of excellent defensive loads. I haven't tried them out yet, but I've heard great things about all of Buffalo Bore's 9mm and .40 offerings, especially with the Barnes bullets. I was very impressed with their .357 mag loads.

In my 9mm Kahr CM9 I use CorBon DPX 115gr +P, and in my Ruger KLCR I use either Speer Gold Dot 125gr .357mag or Speer Gold Dot 135gr .38spl+P Short Barrel. Both selections have shown to be above average in all ballistic categories and function well in each firearm.

Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P or Remington Golden Sabers 124 gr +P. If I can find it I prefer 147 gr.

As I have a one common wall, for my home defense weapons I load Golden saber .357 Magnum ammo, or Federal 147Gr. P+P 38 special ammo. For all others I load 158Gr LSWCGC's ahead of 14.5 grans of 2400, handloads.

I just shot 50 rounds of the handloads through my 4" M-19 this morning and my right forearm is still kinda sore.

Speer GD .38 135+P in my Ruger .357 LCR, and GD 9mm 124+P in my S&W M&P 9C. Both have great street records and shoot accuratly in my guns.

hornaday critical defense 230gr 45acp. i havnt personaly tested this round but it has been tested on youtube and expands perfectly and feeds great in my kimber hope i never have to use them for any thing other than practice

.45 Winchester Silvertip for my G21: 185 gr loaded to an advertised 1000 ft/sec from a 5" barrel, in stock at my local retailer, works reliably through my gun. Have checked the expansion in water, it's pretty good.

9mil=someone's 124jhp; usually gold dot.
38=someone's FBI; usually remington or buffalo bore
.357=.38, above, or 145 silvertip, or 158 GDHP for outdoors
seecamp=.32 q4255 flat point FMJ from Winchester; designed for the gun.

OMMV.

Currently 147-gr. +P Federal HST in my M&P Shield 9mm and 130-gr. +P Winchester Ranger Bonded in my Ruger LCR.

When I run out of those, I have 100 rounds of 147-gr. standard pressure HST that I actually like better, also 100 rounds of 147-gr. standard pressure Ranger Bonded for 9mm. I will switch to 135-gr. +P Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel in my LCR when I run out of Winchester Rangers.

.45 ACP Federal Hydra-Shok 230-grain.

.40 Speer Gold Dot 180-grain, in my SIG P229 duty pistol.

.357 Magnum full-pressure 125-grain Gold Dot in GP100 revolvers.

.357 Magnum 145-grain Winchester Silvertips in several lighter/smaller sixguns.

.357 Magnum Speer Short Barrel 135-grain in SP101 snubbies, when I can find this ammo for sale, in stock.

.38 Special Nyclad in some older revolvers. I have just about depleted my supply, so this may change soon, but there is little urgency, as I so rarely carry these guns at this time.

.32 ACP Speer Gold Dots, on the rare and special occasions I carry my Seecamp.

.40 S&W 155 grain jhp, either FEDERAL or REMINGTON

9m.m. FEDERAL 124 grain HYDRO SHOK or HST

.38 Special FEDERAL 125 grain hollow point NYCLAD

380ACP I use REMINGTON 88 grain jhp

.32ACP is COR BON Powerball
