I have not shipped a gun on my own and I need to send a Taurus revolver in for warranty service. (The cylinder lockup is not proper on a .22 Tracker, for the curious.)
I've just been sitting on the gun, meaning to send it, but haven't gotten off my ass. In fact, I originally had hoped to drive from here to Miami (about an hour or so) and just drop it off; good thing I called, because they told me they don't accept walk-in drop-offs.
Anyway, I walked into a UPS Store and asked the dunderheaded teenaged ill-educated customer-service-what-the-hell's-that moron behind the counter about maybe giving me a brochure about firearms shipping policies and procedures, and he was utterly clueless.
How should I send the gun back to Taurus? I want to avoid having to pay a premium to a local gun shop to do the shipping for me. Isn't it legal for me to ship a gun on my own for repair, especially intrastate?
What method is best? Where does the cost bar intersect the efficiency bar?
Thanks for your input.
Blue skies,
-Jeffrey
