What Solvent and Oil Do You Use?

My favorites are Break Free CLP, Tetra oil and grease, and Gun Butter.

I use BFCLP for bores and the others for moving parts.

I heard the u.s. military kept their guns dry in iraq. I think once you clean a gun just leave it dry until you are going to shoot it. Oil it up then. Otherwise if lube it after you clean it the oil is already dried up the next time you shoot it.

I use the most slickest sex lube. Oh wait are we talking guns here? Lol j/k.

hoppes #9, KG12 (copper removal), Mobile 1 syhtetic oil, Shooters Choice synthetic grease. Am planning on trying some Mobil 1 synthetic grease.

I use Hoppes No. 9, or Powder Blast depending on the gun and its finish.

I learned from experience not to use the Powder Blast on guns with a cheap finish, it left a streak down the side of my Mossberg 702.

For oil I use Rem Oil with teflon or Hoppes Elite and sometimes a light coat of Rig universal gun grease. Just depends on the gun, generally for small autos I use the Rem Oil and old bolt guns or semi auto rifles I use Rig gun grease.

For solvents Sweets and hoppes. For oil I use Kroil.

Sweets removes the copper but I use Hoppes to remove the Sweets.

I then oil.

Hoppe's #9 for basic cleaning including corrosive ammo, nd ballistol for lube. For barrels that are heavily fouled with copper, I use Wipe Out. It is expensive, and takes time to work, but I've never seen a more effective copper remover.

I just keep it simple with the Hoppes Elite cleaner and oil and it's worked great for me. Debated trying some grease on my M&P slide rails but unless I see a problem with what I'm using why bother lol. I keep the M&P much less oiled than my Mini 14 but I feel like they are the most dependable reliable pair of firearms ever so it doesn't matter much what I use haha.

i use BreakFree CLP for everything:

*run a CLP soaked boresnake down the barrel

*wipe the bolt down with a CLP soaked rag

*wipe down exterior with CLP soaked rag

depending on my mood, i may spray my bolt down with Tri-Flow...

Hoppes #9 for cleaning, CLP G96 synthetic gun oil for light lubrication (my oldest friend, and FBI SSA recommends and uses it). I'm looking into using a smidge of grease for the slide on my M1 carbine.

Weapon Shield
Bore Tech Eliminator for bore if needed
Tetra grease on slide rails

That's it. I've replaced everything with these.

Aeroshell Fluid 18. It's a very light gun oil with excellent EP and anti corrosion additives.

I've used it after shooting corrosive ammo, in the rain (including cleaning the AK in the rain) and have had no rust.

And it $30 a gallon.

Mobil 1 10W40 for oiling and Dextron III for cleaning. BrakeClean for heavy cleaning. I use this on both rifle, AR and pistol for years.

You mean you are supose to CLEAN THEM???? lol

I've used Breakfree CLP on my guns when hunting in the winter (below zero) in Alaska, and in the desert in Texas. It just plain woirks VERY good for me. I've been useing it for many many years.

I also use automotive synthetic grease on the hindge pins of my break open guns...

I also use "synthetic" automotive grease on the hindge pins of my "break open" guns, as it works better in that area than anything else. You only need a "film" of grease there, and change it often!
