Should I buy a glock 19, a xd compact a cz P-01 or a fn pistol all in 9 m.m.??? I think the cz will shoot the best groups from the reviews I have read, but parts are more expensive.Glock magizine is half the price of a cz.The cz is the only aluminum frame. The fn is a little more expensive. The cz has a 5 year warrenty.Glock and xd lifetime and I don't know about fn.I have a 38 snobnose for carry so the size and weight is not really a factor, nothing carry's as good as a snubnose 38 aluminum frame revolver.

Not sure which FN model you are talking about but the HP is a great gun but I think more expensive then the other three. I have never handled the P-01 but I have a 75B and it is great. If CZ makes all their guns like the 75 family I would consider the P-01. I like the XD family, great gun. The only knock on the Glock I have is in my hand it feels terrible. For me that is enough reason not to buy one. Others swear by them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the guns you mentioned.

Well,

You will get a variety of answers on this one based upon personal presence. I carry a Glock 19 and think this one, and Glock in general are great pistols. I have shot the XD and for me it did not feel "right". I have handled the CZ, but not had a chance to shot it. Felt really nice and I like metal frame guns.

Do you have a range near you that you can try any of these? Without that experience you may find that everyone recommends a Glock, but it does not work for you.

But, buying the Glock is still a great idea!

I have no input on the FNH, but of the others on your list, the CZ is my favorite. I carry a G23, and can shoot it better than my G19. For range fun, I,d get a Fullsize CZ. The XDs are good guns, but the triggers not as good as the Glocks, and replacement parts are impossible to get. All on your list will serve you just fine, but them CZs are hard to outshoot:D

range

Yes I have a range by me they have all but the cz to rent and that is the one I think I want the most.$20 rental fee I can use any gun,$10 range fee but I must buy there ammo at $14 a box but I still can't try the cz and I will be out $45-60 dollars to shoot 50 -100 rounds.

No doubt that it can turn into an expensive proposition. But, it can also get expensive buying a gun that does not work for you in the long run. I like the Glock, but if you like the CZ then go with what feels best to you.

From what I have read and talking to those that have them, the CZ's are great pistols. I will add one to my collections one day.

If you like the P-01 check out the CZ75D PCR. Similar to the P-01 without the light rail and extra bulk in the muzzle. I'd take either of these over the others although the Glock or the FN are also fine choices.

welcome to THR. i personally prefer the xd series of weapons to any other pistol made. period. i have 2 xd's in .40 and i will buy more in the future. sa has great customer service and they really take care of the customer. the glock will serve you well though. i just have issues with the grip angle and the grip girth.

man you sure know how to double post huh?

just like the other thread exactly like this one i said the xd for personal reasons.

CZ experience.

FYI: The range that I work at has a CZ75 in 9mm as a rental and it's currently out of order and it's been there for 3 months. It's being sent back to CZ to replace the slide locking lever. It looks like it broke.

As for XDs and Glocks...go with Glock.

I don't own any of the four so I'm not much help. You may be able to split the list in half if you can decide if you want a hammer or striker fired firearm?

In numeric order, Glock-17-19 is the best 9mm pistol ever produced! Even Glock detractors concede this point. CZPO1 is based upon the full sized 75 and is I believe on the very short list in regards to accuracy, they are also regarded as reliable and rugged by NATO. The XD I don't like as it's a single action pistol without a manual safty and are you talking about the HP?

Do you mean the slide release? If that is the case, CZ should have just shipped you a new one, free of charge, no questions asked.

These have been known to fail in older, high-round-count CZ's. The good news is the gun still works.

Of the given choices, the CZ P-01 is the one I like the best. I've owned all of these except the FN and the P-01 is the only one I still have. They're all great guns however.

P-01. I wish I could provide a link to show what the P-01 went through to get its unique NATO specification. Last time I checked, it's still the only pistol that has it. So far, the Austrians, Italians, Belgians and Germans haven't attempted to obtain the spec.

The only comparable pistol, IMO, is the SIG P-228. In my side by side evaluation, the P-01 was slightly more accurate than the 228. I have never experienced a malfunction with the P-01; not that I'd expect to with a 228, either.

I've owned several Glocks and the only thing I'll concede is that they may be better for someone intimidated by first shot DA. The beautiful thing about CZ DA's with decockers is that they decock to an intercept that's about like a half-cock. After break-in, if you can't shoot a P-01 first shot DA accurately, you probably need a Glock. Better yet, the Springfield XD.;)

hey the glck 19-17 are 2 of the best ever made but it dosen't make much difference how great they are if the end user cannot shoot them an hadle them well. i love gocks fir thier acuracy, reliability an such, but i just can't get used to the grip size and angle. thats why i go with the xd.

I have two XD9 service models and really love they way they feel and shoot. They feel like they were made for my hand quite unlike the Glocks. I just ordered a CZ 75 yesterday to try out since I have heard and read so many good things about them.:D

I'm sorry, but I fail to see why the first shot is such an issue with these guns, when you can pull the hammer back manually and fire your first shot in SA. I do that with my P01, I'm sure Sigs have the capability. They're not DA only semis, are they?

I've had an XD40SC, and an XD9SC. The 9 is much more pleasant to shoot. Both were great to carry. I've got 3 XDs, like them all. I've shot about 6000 rounds thru the one I use in IDPA, not a hiccup yet.
