I figured out what to do with the barrel after chopping off 5.5in from a 51' Colt And, yes, it does shoot. 350's slide right down the barrel, along with 5g of Goex fff and a lubed wad.

what's the diameter of the fuse hole? and did you thread the finial onto the end or plug it with a bolt and use the brass as a cover? any details would be great...i'm in the shop right now. thanks!

Cauterizer, The fuse hole is 1.5mm with a small enlargement on the surface so I can either use some homemade fuse or freepour. The finial is just decoration, the breech is tapped and a bolt screwed in approx one inch. I then cut off the bolt head and brazed the entire surface (builtup about 1/4 inch). The turned part is a brass lamp shade securing finial that I soldered in place. You didn't ask, but the trunion's are 2 X 1/4 inch bolt shanks. I drilled through the barrel and tapped for for appropriate threads, then cut the bolts down, leaving the un-threaded part exposed for the carriage and the threaded part for screwing in. I dipped them in muratic acid to remove the galvanizing, cleaned them off and secured them with JB Weld. All parts (except the barrel or wheel's), are found "hardware store grazing". Have fun.

That has a coefficiency of friction much less than a fecal bolus of a Bubonidae or Strigidae lubricated with high molecular weight hydrocarbons!

In other words, slicker than greased owl ....!

I want one.

It's not as finished as I supposed, my wife pointed out there are no rims on the wheel's!! I've got the brass so that's tomorrow afternoon's project. Thanks for all the cudo's. For anyone interested, the wheels come in various sizes from a guy on ebay...I forgot to save him so you'll have to look it up, just type in "2 inch wooden wheel's".

Snubbie cannon Range Report

Mike, you didn't say "please", so, no you can't have it....too late, to say please now..I had to remind you LOL. The report, 5 grains (fff Goex), at 5 yards. I tied the cannon down, which was good cause it tended to flip over when shot. Aimed 'er as good as I could while laying on my back in the gravel and lit her off. 1st shot skimmed the top of the log knocking off some bark. The next was on the paper and the last 2 were in the bull !!! TOO COOL!! That Whitworh looks a bit out of my league, but sure is purdy!!

I thought I was done with this project....but the boss (she who must be obeyed LOL), suggested I put brass on the wheels and I figured I might as well make a powder measure, (38 shell cut down soldered to a nail), and a brass ramrod, made about the same way.

Until I can find some nice small brass chain, I'll stick with my tried and true, piece of string and a nail LOL.....no really I do use that!!
