Hey everyone!
Most of my 40S&W range work has been with a Beretta 96 up to this point.
I've had a S&W 4006 for a while.
Up until a week or so ago and 50 rounds down the tube, it was NIB-Never fired.
It is a sweeeet pistol, as I'm sure you all know, and equipped with Novak lo profile sights.
My problem is that Point of Impact is a good 3.5 inches below Point of Aim at 10-12 yds.
At first I thought it was me...I put the 4006 down and picked up my XD...5 rounds sub 2" group at 12 yds.
Nope, not my eye or my hand...picked up the Smith with a mag of WWB and Speer Lawman 165 gr and not a bad group, 2.5 - 3 inches, but again 3.5 inches low.
I brought it home, rather frustrated with its performance.
Dropped a boresighter into it and sure enough...the sights Point of Aim vs. laser line from the bore is off by about 3.5 inches.
I see a set screw in the rear sight, but that does not appear to be an adjustment screw. ????
Guess I'll be having an adjustable rear sight installed if I want POA/POI to match as they should.
I can't believe S&W didn't catch the problem at the factory? Anyone else ever have a problem like this on a factory new pistol??
