Mine happened today. Answered an ad in the local paper that said: "for sale Colt $XXX.XX Call XXX-XXX-XXXX"
I called.
Gentleman that answered said he had a pre 70 series Commander, satin nickle, 9 MM luger.
I inquired about condition and the gentleman tells me it is "new in the box"
Yea right.
I go over and I see a new in the box pre 70 series Commander, satin nickle, 9MM luger. Two piece Coltwood box, paperwork and even the original waxpaper wrap.
I paid the man his asking price (which was well under book price) quickly before he changed his mind.
By the way this was an older gentleman (mid 70's) he said he was getting married and his girlfriend didn't like the gun in the house. He bought this gun new and kept it in his nightstand as his home protection gun for all these years.
Every now and then good things happen to good guys. Today it was my turn............
