Tis the season!!! What was your first "real" gun. Mine was a Remington M66 bolt action 22lr. Recieved it on Christmas,I was 10 at the time. Still have it and use it to teach my sons the basics. Don't try this at home, both my older sons now hunt and shoot Highpower. Gets expensive! :D The youngest is only six but shoots his Red Ryder with the best of them. ;)

Merry Christmas to all From TEXAS.

A Russian SKS, Tula 1953. It the first one I bought myself. I had a Win 190, but my dad keeps it, so I don't count that.

My first was a Marlin bolt action .22lr. First thing I bought when I turned 18 (1984).

I still get to see it once in a while. My best friend has it now. He has used it to teach his son to shoot. I can't think of a better use for it.

Had a Glock 17 back in the early 90's (Pretty sure it was a 17) Didn't know a dang thing about guns.....A friend wanted to get rid of it, so I obliged.

Put about 50 rounds through it and got rid of it. Didn't have any interest in it.

Didn't think much of guns for about 10 years, the bought a Bersa Thunder 380 in MArch 2003.

Up to 8 guns now

(But I've learned better than to like Glocks :neener: )

The first gun that I bought with my own money was an Iver Johnson .22 revolver. I bought it at a pawn shop for about $35...this was 1973. It was so far out of time that it sprayed my hand and wrist with lead every time I fired it. It wouldn't hit a milk jug at 10 feet. I kept it about 3 weeks and got rid of it. I went back to the same pawn shop and bought a brand new 6" Ruger Standard Model, which I still have. I've put thousands of rounds through it, and it's a tack driver.

Savage Model 24 Series N

.22 Mag over 20 GA., my Dad bought it for me when I was 12 or 13. Great turkey gun. It has a lot of sentimentaal value to me.

my first was a K98 mauser. now own an M1, turned my K98 into a sniper Look alike, a 20g barretta auto, and a springfield XD

I had others, but the one that counts is the one my dad gave me Christmas of 1976, a Ruger 10/22. It has stamped on the barrel "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty" or something like that, I'd have to get it out of the safe to be sure.

Ruger P95DC 9mm.
I don't have it anymore...my next firearms purchase will likely be another full size 9mm, since I don't have one.

My first was a J.C Higgins .22 single shot rifle (A Marlin Model 100 made for Sears) that my dad bought for me back in the late 50's. After nearly 50 years, I still have it and I still take it to the range. It's not that accurate and the ejector needs to be replaced, but I still like to shoot it.

The one that started it all for me was my Glock 34. My dad's buddy was selling it, and I had a lot of fun when I got to shoot it, so it was just meant to be. Don't plan on ever getting rid of it. This was just earlier this year so I haven't had a chance to give it many friends except for my Makarov but I'm working on that.

870 Express from Big 5 purchased in December 2001. It's a cheaper version of the Wingmaster I learned to shoot on in the Boy Scouts years ago when I was around 14. Well, actually I mistakenly got the Express because that's what I thought I was shooting back then.

Ruger P90, the only reason I bought was on the suggestion of a friend that knew about as much about guns as my cats. Somehow I muddled through. Learned alot of lessons about guns with that Ruger.

First gun was a S&W 442 bought in 2000 (I'm from Boston, former liberal Democrat). Now a converted conservative Independent that votes Republican...

Sold my 442 because I couldn't get used to the recoil -- up to eleven guns now if you count the Red Ryder... :D

My first was a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911. Gift from my dad when I got home from Iraq, and aside from experiences with the Beretta in the service, it was my "trainer" handgun.

Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk1 (still have it).

Then a Mossberg 500 (gave to my brother).

My dad gave me a Security-Six (sold to a friend). I bought my first pistol (Glock 30) still have it.

Model 49 Ithaca Saddlegun

The Deluxe edition. Which was NOT what I wanted, as my father and brother had the regular version. It took me a few years to appreciate the superb marbled walnut under 6 coats of hand-rubbed lacquer. I could still live without the gold-plated hammer and trigger, but the sling sure was handy. Oh - all of that cost five more 1965 dollars than the standard version, a 20% premium!

That was the only one in stock, so I coughed up the Big Bread to buy it. Bet your a** I still have it. ;)

My Mom's Mossberg peep-sight .22. I was trained on it when I was 8, was allowed to borrow it for field trips at 12, and was given it for my 16th birthday. It was that one because dad's Winchester .22 Target rifle was too heavy for me.
When Dad died, I got the Winchester. Then my sis started yowling about how "everything goes to the oldest son and nothin' for the daughters", "you always did wreck my fun", "being born in the middle stinks" etcetera ad nauseum.
Partly for peace in the family, partly because I like her, and partly because she was right on all counts, she got the Mossberg.

Now I have a happy sis, I got the winchester, and I got memories.
