I'd kept telling myself that I was going to save up for a CZ 452 Lux, but I instead wound up getting a milsurp Mauser as an impulse buy. An M48, to be precise.

It's the one on the bottom.

I did finally get a CZ 452 FS...but only after getting (and selling) a Remington 597, another Mauser (M48A), and a Romanian trainer rifle.

How about you guys?

My first was my Ruger 10/22 carbine that I bought with b-day money when I turned 18. Its got more range time and rounds through it than all my other guns. In fact, its got more through it than some of the others combined.

Oddly enough, the modification bug hasn't bitten yet and the rifle remains stock. It did come with a cheapy Tasco scope, but its just as fun to shoot only using irons.

Sig Sauer P220 with tritium sights.

2nd was a Norinco M-90.

Started with champaigne, then topped it off with a PBR :D

Glock 21 in 45acp.

It was during the AWB, so I figured "if I can only have 10 rounds, I want 10 big rounds instead of 10 little ones."

I've since purchased 3 hi-cap mags for it. One during the ban and 2 after.

I'd like to know if 45's started to outsell 9's due to the AWB, and if nines made a resurgence after the expiration. I do remember hearing that concealable autos were a hit during AWB since big guns and little guns could hold the same amount of ammo.

1940 [age 8] Hopkins&Allen 12gauge single shot. Still have it and use it occasionally.

Must have been in 1980 at the age of 7. My father bought me a single shot break action 410. I still have it too.

Christmas 1965, 12 yr old, my dad and mom gave me a Marlin model 55 upland game, 12 ga bolt action, has the four slit muzzle break on the both side of the muzzle with a poly choke, recoil pads and a gold plated trigger. It has taken more rabbit and squrriel than I care to count, all around utility service, harvested mistletoe by the bushel basket, home defense for years. It now belongs to one of my sons, was the first gun he ever fired.:) P.T.

Pistol

SigPro 2340, love it to death and still have it. Currently my carry-on.

Nylon 66 bolt action 22RF. Got it as a Christmas present from my Dad, around 1951?. Still have it, and it will go to my first grandson/daughter.

A Mossberg Bolt action .410 shotgun, 30 inch barrel, full choke - cost around $30 (I seem to remember $32) at a Target store back in the day when Guns were just natural and not politically incorrect (mid-60's).

I am sure that my first gun was a Daisy BB gun. But, my first "real" gun was a Stevens single-shot youth .22. I was probably 5-7 years old. That was a LONG time ago. I still have it, though.

1st Gun

:D For me that 1st gun was a 22 short made by Hamilton & Beech. Thats right they made guns back about 1900. They went on to become famous for their blenders. My Grandfather gave it to me. I can't remember not having it. I still got it today and acording to the serial#012 it is about 101yrs old this year. Shoots just fine, but it looks a little rough as a gun was nothing but a tool to folks back then. Killed evry hog my family ate for many years. More than a few squrrel's died from it also.:)

Friends and neighbors, I am a newbie but an oldie... should I error, please chalk it up to youth...

My first real gun from my Dad was a Winchester bolt action, single shot, 9mm shotgun. I slew many bird of the scriptures (doves) with it. I was about six or so, and was selected to cull the old, the infirm, and those with sight problems. No matter, that little peashooter was enough for me. The shot size, I believe was #12, dust. As we all know now, it didn't really matter, some were lucky and flew through the pattern, but some went home to the pot. Had I been a prince of India, I couldn'd have more proud or happy. These things we need to share with our youth. I recall that hot September field in Lehi Arkansas like it was yesterday.

I still have the old gun and a half box of shells. No, haven't shot it fifty years.

Thank you
