What was your first gun.

Ruger Single Six 22/22mag 1976 edition. Youthful choice to sell it. I wish I still had it.

My first gun and the first one I ever bought are different.
My very first was a Winchester single barrel 16 gauge that was passed down the family line.
The first one I actually bought was a NEF Handi Rifle in .280 Rem. I think I was 19.
I still have both, the only difference is, the 16 will never be for sale. I'm sure I'd get rid of the Handi-Rifle if a good enough deal came down the pike. I'll likely end up handing the 16 down the line again.

10/22 cant even remember why I bought the 10/22 specifically but I had been shooting with a friend and his p22 and had to have something of my own.

Its weird to think of life before firearms and what motivated me to purchase one.

Very 1st : Red Ryder BB gun

1st firearm : My dad gave me his 1920(something) Remington (Browning Patent) Model 24 .22 (Shorts only) Excellent 1st gun! It went to it's 3rd generation owner 10 years ago and is destined for it's 4th generation owner in about 8 years.

First gun I bought was a CZ 75B. Don't see it going anywhere either. Shoot it better than any other pistol I have had since.
First gun I "owned" is a bolt action Mossberg .410. It was my grandfather's before he died and my grandmother told me when I was about 5 or 6 that it would be mine when I was older. It sits in my safe now and I do shoot it from time to time. That one isn't going anywhere either.

First gun I owned was a New England Pardner Youth Model .410. I killed a squirrel with it on Christmas day (which is when I received it). I was 9 yrs old I think. I still have it, and actually shot some clays with it 2 weekends ago. It was the first time I'd fired it in years though.

First gun I bought was an Essex Arms M1911 with a Remington Rand slide for my 21st birthday. It sits by my bedside tonight, having been recently promoted from the kitchen cabinet.

Mine was Marlin model 25 .22lr bolt action. Mom bought it for me when I was just a wee lad. Wish I still had it, but I was a dumb kid back then and left it to the elements. That thing was extremely accurate though, which I didn't appreciate as much at the time.

grandmas savage single shot .410 i was in 5th grade when i got it and i killed my first deer with it...75 yards with a slug...DRT (helped by my dads simultaneous .270, but i claim the kill, as the bullet holes were 2 inches apart through the lungs)

I didn't buy my first one, it was a Christmas gift. It was a Mossberg 22 auto rifle. I loaned it to my ex-brother in law years ago. I think his son is using it now. And that's OK with me. :)

My first was a Christmas gift. My grandpa bought me a Marlin model 60. Of course after taking it back to the store and exchanging it twice because of excessive jamming I came home with a Ruger 10/22. I paid the difference with my extra Christmas money.
Still my favorite squirrel rifle.

First gun was a single shot, exposed hammer, Stevens 16 gauge. My Dad bought it new when he was a 13 year old kid. Still have it. My step-kids both learned to shoot with it & my daughter will when she's old enough.

The first gun I ever bought was a brand new Winchester 1200 12 gauge pump with Winchokes in 1985 when I was 14. Paid $140 in hard-earned tobacco field money ($2 an hour, you do the math). 25 years and probably 10,000 rounds later, it's still going strong on doves and skeet. I've tried nice O/U's, Remington 870's, Browning auto's...and they've all been sold or traded. That old 1200 keeps knockin'em down year after year.

My first gun ever was a breach load single shot 12 gauge shotgun at age 10, it was given to me by my uncle. the first gun I ever purchased was an H&K usp tactical .45. I have purchased many others, but it's still my favorite handgunall these years later. Go big or go home!

I'm really not sure? It was one of two things...

  • Marlin 60 22 LR

  • Savage 12 gauge single shot
Both of which are still in my possession after 20+ years. The Marlin (made sometime in the 80's since it has an 18 round tube) still gets used often. Who knows how many 10's of 1000's of 22 rounds have been down the barrel, but it still works and has a nice looking bore. I don't shoot the savage too often these days.
