OK - I think this type of post is probably dangerous, but recent threads about HR1022, gun bans, tyranny etc. have to have many thinking...

1)"What will I do?" if it happens that a far-reaching bill like 1022 gets passed?

2)"What will I do?" if a ban passes, and then a registration law for those weapons grandfathered passes?

3)"What will I do?" if a confiscation law is passed?

I ask this not only because of federal threats to the RKBA, but also in many states their are ALOT of anti-gunners in charge, and local laws will most likely kick up along the way. I am looking for some ideas of realistic actions to take. Please keep it "high road".

So, what would you do?

Far too many variables. I have some generalized ideas but I think this sort of thing falls under "no plan survives first contact with the enemy".

There is only one answer I would ever consider posting online, period:

"I will comply with the law to the best of my abilities and knowledge, and I always recommend the same to all others."

Saying anything else, whatever your plans, would be a serious error.

I think a lot of people are taking action for this all ready. Worked at our gun clubs table this passed weekend at the gun show and had a chance to walk around to see whats new,and noticed something,----a lack of Black guns, semi autos, not like in passed shows. Some were there but a lot less. And seen some guys buying some that prices were just stupid. Most long gun around were of the hunting type and a lot of shot guns.

I definitely agree that a lot of stocking up is going on. SO then we ask the obvious - why? "Well - because that way when they are banned, I will have some". Fine - understandable - #1 is answered... but then what? What about when they say you have to turn them in? Easy - "don't". OK, so what then when they come to get them? Lie? OK. Go to jail? Fire on some LE?

How far are people willing to go to keep them? WE know what is at stake if we give them up; and many can probably imagine what can happen if we don't. I don't like either answer, but I do feel it will only be a matter of time till it happens. :(

Techno - understood!

my familly has beed disarmed in the past (eastern block), and paid in blood and lives lost (think WW2 death camps, and later gulags).
i had this talk with my Dad already. IF they go door to door confiscating, it means only one thing. and there is only one thing a FREE MAN can do.

Everyone must make their own decision.

I will comply with the law to the best of my abilities. I do not recomend anyone breaking the law.

I wonder how many people know a Henry Bowman?

Thinking more - I would also have to rely on the oath I took as an LE - that "preserve/protect/defend the Constitution" oath doesn't become void once I'm a civilian again does it?

I will comply with the law to the best of my abilities and knowledge, and I always recommend the same to all others.

;)

What Will I Do?

Let the confiscators find out for themselves.

"I swear to protect the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, but I am not trigger-happy. I am merely prepared and determined in its defense. It's a comfortable place to be. I don't suffer doubt." B.E.Wood

"Knowing the past, I'll not surrender any arms and march less prepared into the future." B.E.Wood

Look at your rights and freedoms as what would be required to survive and be free as if there were no government. If that doesn't convince you to take a stand and protect your inalienable rights and freedoms, nothing will. If that doesn't convince you to maintain your personal sovereignty, you are already someone else's subject. If you don't secure your rights and freedoms to maintain your personal sovereignty now, it'll be too late to come to me for help when they come for you. I will already be dead because I had to stand alone. B.E.Wood

This is what the Second Amendment is for. Should this legislation(1022) pass, this shall compel preservation and restoration of our freedom, for it would attempt to deprive us of the means.

Need any more be said?

I don't own any "hunting guns" for a reason. I do own several guns though.

I can buy meat at the super market.

Freedom? Might have to hunt that down.;)

1)"What will I do?" if it happens that a far-reaching bill like 1022 gets passed?

Vote whoever voted for it out of office and try to find someone who is sane to put in office...

2)"What will I do?" if a ban passes, and then a registration law for those weapons grandfathered passes?

Register them and vote whoever voted for the registration out of office and someone sane into office.

3)"What will I do?" if a confiscation law is passed?

Quit my job or refuse to follow the illegal orders to confiscate. I don't feel like getting shot at by my fellow citizens if the government sends me on such an asinine mission. I think the tin foil hat is on too tight just yet. Give it another 50 years though and maybe...

I was thinking about me being ex-LE, my B-I-L being current LE etc., and thought "naa - couldn't do it"; then I read Titan's response about "the choice" of those trying to enforce illegal laws, and things become clearer.

BTW Titan - I see your point, but California AWB fiasco, Chicago BS, & Katrina et. al. are old news, not 50 years from now.

True that Shield, but Katrina was not a law it was a corupt socialist government's reaction to a crisis. The NRA got a court order to stop it.

But my answer stands either way. If someone told me to do that I would not. So I guess they would have to send me off to the reeducation camps.

When will this happen? A good sign is when the 1st amendment is no longer respected. When RKBA groups will be "legally" silenced. When this happens, get the shovel out.

Do you think it was easier for the founders to...distance themselves from the British they fought then it would be for Americans to do with regards to other Americans? I think...morally...the situation seems alot harder these days then it was back then.

I only hope it doesn't come to the point of choosing between being a free man and a subject/criminal .
