What would you change if you had Open Carry?

NC has open carry.
I can and do open carry. I don't really even think about it that often. Never had a problem with a LEO about it.
Beretta most of the time, sometimes a Ruger.

It's a good question - thank you Texas for trying to set some precedent for the rest of us.

Not having to conceal, I think I'd go with a big boy, my 6" longslide Springfield 1911 on occasion, as well as the CZ 75 SP01 Tactical.

But still most of the time, I'd be concealed.

Or, I may even have to get another .454 Raging Bull, 8 and 3/8ths inch, this time black instead of stainless.

Hats off to all of you

Do y'all realize that this thread has gone five whole pages without trolling, personal insults, or World War III breaking out?
:what::what::what::what::what:

In case you haven't noticed, that's not real common. Well done, and keep on talking.

Just realized where we are on this and thought I'd throw that in.:D

Open carry is legal here. I'm a believer in propriety. I'll open carry in areas where it's not "in your face." That's mostly out in the woods, camping, hunting, fishing. I don't open carry (too often) into the local grocery, unless I'm on my way to an "expedition" and so it's "appropriate."

Smith 629, 4" bbl., 44 mag. in an LEO style "frontier" holster. Oil tanned leather with a retention strap.

For comic effect, I might open carry a Ruger LCP / KelTec. Maybe with the sort of pin that is used to hold on political-candidate buttons? :)

Or, realistically and of the guns I currently own, perhaps my Kahr CW9 -- which would be very comfortable, and for which I actually own a holster.

Timothy, you have absolutely got to put together a pic of that. That's hilarious.

Hey, you'd be fashionably understated, that's for sure.

OMG! Well I would always have one of my 1911's on concealed but I'd love to be able to show off the Cannon

YES I would open carry THIS:

I would carry my XD-45, which I usually carry concealed. I'm a big guy at about 6'-3" and about 275, so when the guy has big pants....... you guessed it, he can hide a big gun. I currently use a Sky High holster, but I would use some sort of SERPA or other retention holster to keep people from removing it to admire it, or put holes in me that God didn't intend to be there.

I'd switch between my Springfield XD .45 and the chrome Kimber 1911 I want to get. If I'm just doing every day things it would be the XD. If I'm tripping the light fantastic, going out on the town, it would be the Kimber 1911 so I look GOOOOOD!

Right now when I OC here in VA I carry either a 5" XD45 in a SERPA or a 4" K-frame .38 in a Bianchi thumb break paddle holster.

Once I get a good holster for my Hi-Power and confirm its reliability with gold dots then I'll carry that one too.

When I open carry in the woods, its usually my EDC that I conceal a CZ-75D PCR. Its big enough to feel like a "duty" gun, but small a light enough to easily carry. However, I also tend to OC a 5.5 inch bull barrel Ruger MK II for hikes.

So I guess, bottom line it wouldn't change my choices much, but I may carry a more service size pistol like my BHP or 1911 more often. I think the BHP is a fine choice for you to OC.

The TN Handgun Carry Permit is technically all you need to carry concealed or open. In middle TN you generally won't see open carry by plain clothes folks other than gun store clerks and the bank machine guys. Open carry here would almost certainly get you unwanted attention.

If open carry was common, I would go with my paddle holster with retention device, cross draw. I believe the cross draw position is less threatening to non gunners and better for drawing from a sitting position.

The one and only time I've carried a sidearm was Dad's 'baby' Browning (.380) in a cute little thumb snap holster. The revolver my grandfather left me has a western style holster that his father had made in Colorado sometime after 1917. My hubby can wear it (and often does) but it is far too big for me.
