Going today perhaps to buy one of them. I can get a fully assembled BM Lower with A2 stock for $299 or a DPMS stripped lower for $110 and a parts kit for $60. Then I'll need to find a stock and I want an A2 anyway which I believe will be around $90.

I plan on throwing a DPMS 20" bull barrel on the lower. I'll be doing my research to see of the BM is compatible with the DPMS upper.

Is there really a difference between these lowers asside from the triggers (BM being a tad better).

i have experience with bushmaster i have never been let down. i would go that route. between the 2 you listed.

I find I get better results (fit & finish) when I buy a complete factory assembled rifle.

I built an AR using a DPMS lower and a DPMS lower parts kit.

The fit and finish of the lower is outstanding, and the rifle I built using it has been almost 100% reliable.

The trigger is pretty atrocious though. Lots of creep and pretty heavy. It has smoothed up a little with use.

I built a lightweight carbine... if I were building a precision AR, I would buy one of the excellent 2 stage triggers available from several manufacturers.

For just the lower? Whatever is cheaper between the 2. They are both quality manufacturers. Account for the cost of a better trigger for either one.

Bushmasters seem to have a better resale if you think you might ever get rid of it.

I went DPMS, saved a few bucks.

Both lowers are good - I would go with a complete upper regardless of the brand - warranty on complete lower is nice to have just in case. If you are putting a DPMS upper on it go with DPMS.

I like and have both. Bushy is prettier, but my DPMS is a great gun and I would not trade it. I like the idea of a matching set, upper and lower, so I would say the DPMS. Bill

The lower receivers are not extremely important (provided they are forged anodized aluminum with pins drilled to the correct specs), but some of the parts are. Neither DPMS or Bushmaster use milspec tubes, I would go with someone who does personally (Stag Arms).
