What would you like your gun to smell like?

The antique furniture in my grandmother's old house. She had an old upright piano, among other pieces, that had a kind of old wood and varnish smell. The piano and the house (and my grandmother) are gone now, but I have a 1920's era Winchester '97 that smells like that. For now, it's not for shootin', it's just for smellin'.

I can't really tell you, but I can tell you how to see for yourself.
Go grab your .308, go outside, and fire three rounds.
Then open the bolt and inhale.
The smell of Winchester ball powder...

If I could find a solvent and lube that matched my wife's perfume - she might not be quite so quick to figure out what I've been up to.

Wait a minute - on second thought - maybe that's not such a good idea after all. Don't want the guys to get the wrong idea.

Oh well, I guess CLP will be the scent for me.

Fine Leather

The faint smell of gasoline -- like when you just pull into the gas station.

Motor oil

:D Cheers,
Wes

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning....." Oh, I digress.........

Lead, steel, Hoppes 9, grease, oil, ....If they make Lady Smith's smell like roses - the BG's would just run from the scent of the gun.

Opium, the perfume, not the drug.
It's my favorite perfume, the one I wear most often in cool and cold weather. If my handguns smelled like Opium they wouldn't clash with my perfume.

Right now, preferrably RIG #2. Way better than say, Shooter's Choice. If they wanted to instill a great scent into the cleaners, then I would agree with the fresh ground espresso. Barring that, maybe Drakkar? The womens guns could be Organza.

oh god...you hadda ask...
chanel # 5 you foolish male!!!
...NOT...

they smell just fine as is. it would be fun to throw in some lavender in the CLP for that relaxing amormatherapy effect, lol...

If my handguns smelled like Opium they wouldn't clash with my perfume.
I thought I'd heard it all about handgun accessories, but I have to admit that this is a first in my book... :D

(Of course, if you wore Hoppe's #9, your perfume wouldn't clash with your gun! :neener: :p :D )

I got a Makarov (sp?) that smells like the mule hide holster it came in.

Got a .22 rifle that smells like Murphy's Oil Soap, because I clean it with "Panther Piss" (a mixture of Murphy's Oil Soap, Peroxide and ???..Huh..I can't remember if it was alcohol or ammonia. It's pretty good stuff on the gunk that .22 semi autos get.

While in storage and before we shoot all my guns smell like Corrosion X, then they have a wonderful mix of burnt gunpowder mixed with Corrosion X... Me likes...

If I had to pick a different kinda smell then I'd have to go with the men's cologne called Safari but just a hint or I'm sure I wouldn't be able to concentrate... :D
