I'm trying to pick a carry gun or maybe find a excuse to get a new one. Anyway between a Sig p938 Xds 3.3 in 45acp or a Glock 43 what would you pick

I have questions. The Sig & the Glock are in 9mm, and the XD-S is a .45. One hammer-fired and two striker-fired. One metal-framed and two polymers. So this one is kind of like a thread I started in rifles a while back: all over the map. (I'm not fussing, just trying to help flesh this out.) What is it about the G43 that you want to improve on?

Well, I can only speak as a guy who owns none of the above, so take this as being worth what you paid for it... In fact, of the 3, the only one I've shot was an XD-S, and only a few magazines. I did find it to be a surprisingly soft shooter, had no malfunctions, and was probably more accurate than I can get out of it.

Good luck on your search! If you're open to other suggestions, there's a metric ton of good carry pistols out there these days.

My thoughts - I prefer without thumb safety, and I've moved away from my own XDS (in 9mm) which I still like but don't carry. I'd go with the G43 for the full range of after market support and familiarity with the glock in general. But more to the point - the one you shoot accurately and quickly, have compete trust in it's reliability, and can conceal effectively.

I'm always open to suggestions
My suggestion is consistently the Shield Plus. For me (for me), it's good enough that I don't think I'll ever hunt for another belt-cc pistol. Here's a comparison: https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/glock-g43-vs-smith-wesson-m-p-9-m2-0-shield

You can also run comparisons with the others on there. The Shield Plus is slightly larger than the G43, but gets you 13 rounds. The ergos are fantastic for me, and my 9mm Shields have been remarkably reliable. (I did have a .45 Shield that gave me some trouble, in all fairness).

ETA: I'll also add that my Plus did need about 100-150 round break-in period, but it's been 100% once I got it "settled."

Out of those options, I voted for the P938, but none would be my choice. The current crop of 10+ round micro-9mms are comfortable to shoot (if you pick one that works for your hands anyway), accurate, reliable, and nearly as concealable as the smaller 6-8 round older gen guns (IWB or OWB there really is no practical difference, not until you go to pocket carry). I personally picked the P365 (actually, two, so now I always have one for my range bag and one for my holster). I almost picked a G43x, and I looked carefully at the Shield Plus and Hellcat.

Yes I'm mainly looking for a single stack in that size. I need something for summer carry OWB
My main two EDC are the G43X and the Shield Plus. I second what @Spats McGee said above, it's hard to improve on the SP as an overall EDC. But at times, I carry the G43, depending on weather, attire, etc. It's only a 6-rounder, or one more round than many a compact revolvers out there. Also, you can carry extra mags as well. A dandy little pistol. Glock reliable.

None of those would be my preference. I like the 43x or 48 (or 365xl or Hellcat or shield +) over the 43, never really could cosy up to the XDS, and my grip has made 938s puke their mags out under recoil with shocking regularity when I shot them a number of times (plus recoil is too much for that size and weight when compared to the polymer micro 9s, IMO).

Shield Plus, Hellcat, or a 365/365xl would be my short list.

For me it’s a 365xl with Wilson frame when a Glock 19 (or equivalent size) is too much, mostly hot summer days.

I carried a XDS 9mm for a few years and liked it. I now carry a Sig 938 legion and I like it more, I prefer the SA trigger and the smaller lighter package.
Sorry no comment on the Glock the ones that I handled did not point well for me.
Any reason you are not considering the sig 365?
I got a S&W Shield plus for the wife and so far I am impressed with it.

I have owned all 3 and the Sig was the easiest for me to carry but the XDS was carried a lot. During the winter I'd carry both the Sig and the XDS. Not a fan of the G43.

I have or have had versions of all three.

Don't prefer to carry SA at all.

Really like my XDS, but it's a bit bigger than I prefer to carry.

Guess that leaves the Glock. I traded mine for a Kahr PM9 I like better, but my G43 was a good solid pistol that went bang every time.

I Handled the sig 365 a few years ago and liked the G48 more

Looks like I will have to have a look at the shield plus

Friend of mine carries a Shield of some sort, for as long as I've known him, 15+ years. He swears by the Shield. He is not that great of a shot, but he can sure shoot that Shield.

The Kahr is another option, OP, but a very niche one... either you like the Kahrs, or you don't, based on what you are looking for in a carry pistol. Not a fan of the small CM9/PM9, although I have both, I prefer to carry the slightly larger CW9. Single stack, 7+1, no manual safety. Small, light, compact, but not so compact that you can't get a handle on it to shoot... which is why I prefer it over the M-series. The M-series, however, mimics the Glock 43 in size, if that is a consideration.

Uhhhhhh.

From those, G43 first, XDS45 next. Only because it's in .45. (If the XDS was in 9mm, I'd put that first. Easier to shoot than the .45 and more capacity.)

I probably wouldn't carry the 938.
