What yardage do you get from your Glock 30?

Just picked up my first piece of tupperware today. It's a little Glock 30 to stick in my pants on those hot summer days I don't feel like holsterin the 1911.

Just came back from the front yard, running a couple mags through it. I was just using what I had at hand -Winchester white box 230gr FMJ's. Made some decent 25yd shots, but it didn't seem consistent. It's probably just me, since I've only been behind a Glock one other time in my life, and spend the rest of the time behind my 1911's.

What kind of yardage you gettin from your Glock 30? What's your pet factory plinkin load for it?



Edited to add: How funny is it that the Glock factory case is actually a piece of black Tupperware, that happens to say Glock on it???

I don't have any problems hitting fairly small targets out to 100 yds. with my G30, but I don't use the factory trigger setup.

Y'trash: Please accept my apology for my now-edited statement regarding ignorance and tupperware. Maybe I misunderstood your threadstarter, but I thought you meant that the box, not the pistol, was tupperware. My statement was not intended to conflict with that position. In my own ignorance, I thought that it was pretty general knowledge that the earlier Glock boxes, not the pistols themselves were termed, "tupperware". (Because the boxes do look like Tupperware.)

G30 is about as accurate as a stock 1911. Close, but not quite, as accurate as my custom 1911.

I like the S&B 230 g FMJs for plinking.

For carry, sometimes I use S&B, or if I am in a more creative mood carry Remington 185g golden sabers.

I am not sure you are gonna be too happy with a glock stuck in your pants. 1911 is thinner, and easier to carry IWB.

If I warmed up really good I could probably chuck one 40-45 yards (right arm) and maybe 25-30 (left arm).

Then I could plink away at it with my Springfield MilSpec.

Yea, minute of torso, you could plink at it with that springfield, and at 40 or 50 yds you might even hit it once or twice, if you bring enough ammo.

I sense a range outing, You can play with my tupperware if I can play with yours. Carrying guns by Hasbro, what is the world coming to? Next we need to talk about your trigger as compared to mine. I can help I do 25 yds fine with my 17 and 34 but they are longer and in a wuss caliber. I've shot a 30 at 15 yds before and it did better than I did. Please get a holster that covers the trigger gaurd unless you're planning on carrying it in something other than full condition. I can see this thing is going to end up in a tool belt. Hammer, speed square, Glock, pencil, tape measure etc. Just don't correct framing errors with a 185 gr nail. Consider some 185gr fast HP for carry, that lil barrel does 230s no great favors. Golden Saber 185gr +p is my favorite "plinking" load. Will get your attention, that one.

Well, I got pretty regular hits on a largish cardboard box at (how far was that, lendringser? 150? 200 yards?), same as my G29 and Springfield V10 I was shooting that day...

YT, may just be your ammo. I've shot several G30s and they shoot fine. I have noted that all ball is not equal. I'm sitting on several boxes of mil surp that dosen't shoot well in anything. Try some JHPs (I prefer Gold Dots) - I've found that they tend to group better than anything else.

When I first got my G30, I was shooting low and left. Had my friend try it, and he had the same results. We thought it might be the sights or the gun, since in the same session we were shooting his Ruger P95 right on.

Turns out that this is a commom problem. I got some advice from GlockTalk. I had to make sure my grip was firm but relaxed, and my trigger pull straight back through the centerline of the gun. The Glock trigger take-up also requires some getting used to, and is more akin to a rifle action. Now, after some practice, I'm just as accurate with the G30 as with my other pistols.
