What's a good general-purpose scope ring?

I'd bought several Milletts, because they seem to be available at every single gun store around here, and they're good quality it seems, but they're less than satisfactory, because of the 2-screws per ring base thing they have going (nice if you NEED extra windage adjustment - nothing but a hassle if you don't - more to tighten, more to locktite, and more to cause loss of zero). Leupold and Burris make some nice turn-ins, but right now I need just some Weaver-type, and these aren't typically available from Leupold and Burris at the stores; turn-ins only. Weavers seem pretty decent to fit the bill, but in your experience, what's the best value all-purpose ring with only one screw per ring on the base attachment? I need both 1 inch and 30mm, and something that will hold up to .308-ish and less recoil very securely. Thanks.

For general purpose (low recoil), I've been going with Burris' Zee Rings.

I've never been satisfied with Millet with the two sided tightening. High likelyhood of seriouly misaligning the rings.

I've been using Leupold weaver rings on my stuff. I like the ones with two screws, one above and one below, seem more stable than anything else I've tried. Around $15 at your local Wally world (god I hate walmart)

Thanks. Lemme clarify what I mean - I don't care if they have 2 screws per base, like those Leupolds gun fucious showed - as long as both screws are on one side. I think people knew what I mean; just not the Millett config. Okie, do you mean the Leupold "Rifleman" line of rings available at Walmart? If so, they are a good price, but I've been skeptical of them since that's Leupold's economy line. Gun-fucious, I really like those - I'll check them out, along with the Redfield and Burris Zees. 4 top and 2 bottom screws is a lot to loctite, but still the main thing is not having the windage zero so unstable as I feel they are with the Millett config. Thanks all. Maybe Leupold Riflemans for light recoilers and those other Leupolds for buckin boys (which line is that - just "standard" Leupolds apparently?).

Could be Rifleman, we always called them split rings, but I don't know what they're really called. Heaviest gun I've used them on is an M44 and they held up fine.

Futo: You could go with Weaver Grand Slam bases. These are steel, and every major manufacturer makes a ring that fits Weaver bases. I would choose the Burris Zee ring with the synthetic inserts that fit on Weaver bases or the Leupold PRW rings that fit as well. These are available from Brownells.
