Whats a Lama?

He asked what a Lama was, not a llama. A Lama is a buddhist spiritual leader.

A llama is a magical South American cameloid that, when capitalized, transforms into an inexpensive Spanish pistol no longer in production.

Steelharp,
No, a bad Llama is a paperweight. :D

(Sorry, just couldn't resist being a wisenhammer today.)

Good shooting and be safe.

Which one? The specially trained Ecuadorian Mountain llamas, Venezuelan Red Llamas, Mexican Whooping Llamas, North Chilean Guanacos (closely related to the llama), Reg Llama of Brixton, or Battery Llamas from 'Llama Fresh Farms Ltd' near Paraguay?

"So I jump ship in Hong Kong, and make my way over to Tibet and get on as a looper on a course over there."

"A looper?"

"Yeah, a looper. Caddy. Jock. A looper."

"So I go out and who do you think they give me? The Dali Lama himself. The flowing robes, the grace, bald. Striking."

Goongala...goonga goongala goongala ;)

FYI, Mickey Fowler, Bianchi Cup champs for many years in the 1980's fired this Llama .45 in many selected matches. I've found that all the Llama bashers are those stuck with "jamomatic" expensive pistols lashing out at us poor guys...Lot of them use their "Sophomoric humor' posting pictures of these "lovely animals" or saying such things as, "a Llama pistol is on the low rung of the food chain, or You Get What You Pay for, etc..". All BS. These are good pistols. Take a look at the ventilated rib, ala Colt Python. I rather have a Spanish made pistol than some of the Philippine and Brazilian rejects, "Chas. Daly, Rock River, Taurus, et al[/B

"There will be no money.....but on your deathbed, you will have total consciousness...." So I got that goin' for me.. Which is nice.

I've heard that the Llama pistol isn't a true 1911--is this correct?

Yes thats correct but then neither a Kimber or a Springfield . A true 1911 is a Colt. The Llama will interchange parts with other 1911 More parts than people like to give credit for. They were a good pistol if you were to take a little time to polish up a few parts. People Fluff and Buff Kel Tec all the time and claim greastest little gun ever made. But if they needed to do same to a Llama Worst POS I ever owned trash . Both guns cost about the same and had same QC. I own a nice 10 +1 compact 45 thats is dependable enough for carry. Today I got rid of a 45 and it wasn't the Llama but a Para Ordanace. It was also the 10 +1 compact that the Llama is a clone of. Guess which one worked better.

And now, for something completely different....

:cuss: I own a Llama MAX-I (the 1911 clone which you speak of). I have never had any problems with loading or jamming. It eats anything I put in it (more goat than Llama....lol). Accurate enough for the plinking and SD.

A one "L" lama is a priest,
A two "L" llama is a beast,
But I will bet a pink pajama.
That you've never seen a three "L" arma.

Kidding aside, the Llama is a 45 that somewhat resembles the 1911. Many years ago, it was my first 45 and it worked pretty well. I don't think it's a clone at all because there are too many differences. As I recall, mine worked very well and I didn't have any issues with it.

If you can get one for $200 or so in good shape it would make a good plinker or car gun.

I believe the company was bought or went out of business. They had a newer model, the MAX-1 or something like that but I don't know anything about it.

p.s. Mrs. Crane, I'm watching you. You wore green so you could hide. I don't blame you, you're such a tramp!

Llama actually means flame en Espanol. Look at the emblem, it is not an animal, but a torch.

Llama is hit or miss but I tend to like some and I casually collect Spanish guns. I have a Colt Commander clone in 9x19 by them, very accurate and reliable, but only with ball.

Will not even feed standard Rem jhp. I have a more modern Llama mircromax 380acp Colt Gov't 380 clone. Works flawlessly with all ammo. Gunshop I knew said they actually had more problems with the similar Colts.

Sadly, Llama seems to have bit the dust, the last of the Spanish handgun manufacturers it seems.
