So condensed version here...

I used to be an everyday reader here and I posted quite often, although not as often as some, but two years ago I went through a pretty nasty divorce. During this event in my life, and the two years to follow, my priorities changed and I slowed down heavily with my participation in the gun community. Now I am back to a settled spot where I need to be in life and things are much much better, time to work my trigger finger out again and get reunited with my favorite obsession!

So my question is, during my absence of the last two years, what did I miss?

What firearms were introduced? What new attachment or accessory was ground breaking? Any new legislation worth being aware of? Etc...

Really interested in handgun improvements and new releases but definitely want to know about any and all I may have missed.

Thanks guys, good to be back!

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the disruption in your life. I hope you come out on the other side in good shape. Your request is a very tall order (any and all I may have missed) to fill in a few posts.

I don't have an idea of what your interests are, beyond "any and all" nor do I recall everything in the way of firearms and/or accessories that may have been introduced in the the last two years.

4th Generation Glocks? The single stack 42 in .380 and 43 in 9mm?

Colt came out with a new snub nosed revolver?

US Army picked the Sig 320 to replace the Beretta M9?

Darn it Coyote! That's the only thing I could think of to report, and you beat me to it.:)
So now all I have to report is the fact I've joined this forum within the last two years. Yippee!
Welcome back beeenbag! I too hope things continue to improve for you.:)

Welcome back!

Chassis bolt guns are the new rage
6.5 Creedmor is the new rage
Kimber came out with their first revolver

I'm not one for new as I don't have any that I mentioned. I'm still holding to tried and true, fine furnitured bolt guns, the proven and established .308 WIN, and S&W/Ruger for my revolvers. But to each their own. Which I suppose is odd me being in my mid 30's and all.

While you were away, 10 mm has enjoyed a renewed interest. Ultra-high velocity low mass pistol cartridges by http://libertyammunition.com/ Liberty (and others) are attracting serious fans in the defensive pistol community. The necessity of .45 G.A.P. continues to baffle many---including myself.

Here on THR some very good folks have passed away and some new ones have appeared. The RKBA caravan keeps rolling....welcome back!

Hey neighbor. Let's see, what's changed....joined the AR crowd and now own two. Started some local pistol competition shooting, found out after all these years I really don't shoot like Matt Dillon, more like a Storm Trooper (miss, miss, miss, hey I hit one!)

im in about the same boat you are. i divorced in 2013 and my shooting hobbies went way back on the back burner for a little over 3 years. this year though im diving right back into the deep end and burning up some disposable income.

as for what you may have missed... ARs are cheaper than ever, plastic has all but completely replaced wood, tactical everything is all the rage, and i still cant find .22 at walmart (at least around here)

Awesome, thanks guys!

I'll have to check out the snubby colt! Didn't know about the military sidearm change or the kimber revolver either! I must have missed some great shot shows.

JEB I feel ya, finally dug out my steel targets and have been making them ring a little bit. Haven't got around to setting up my reloading stations again yet so I'm factory ammo dependent right now but I'm house hunting so once I land permanent again the bench is high priority!

Another new thing is that Beretta and Hk both have joined the polymer framed striker fired pistol club. Pretty much everyone but Colt has one now.

Welcome back. The big thing right now is ARs are a whole lot cheaper than you're used to. Since Hillary didn't get elected there's a lot of built-up inventory, and my sense (not based on anything really) is that gun sales are down. Things are cheap and getting cheaper.

(And ammo is available. Restock. :) )

Plastic - Plastic - and more Plastic . Most trend to be a bit smaller as they go along. I think the number one seller this last year was reported as the S&W Shield. The "carry gun" still seems to lead the market.
I'm sure that at least a couple of the Major gun companies have changed hands as well as locations.
The .40S&W seems to be drifting out of favor - going backwards in a way to 9mm , but with redesigned bullet for better performance. We who carry the .45 acp just sit back and wonder if they will every get back to where it belongs.

The number one cause of divorce is still marriage . We need to change marriage from a ceremony to a contract, but haven't woke up to that yet.

The biggest news in rimfire, Ruger came out with a push one button take down system.

Welcome back to the real world. Divorced back in 2004 myself and have never looked back. Best thing I bid was get custody of both of my boys a few years ago, but now they are eating up my ammo stash.
Colt Has not changed. They are still putting out the latest and greatest stuff two to five years after someone else has already had it out.
Ruler has done good with their SR line of handguns and put out a new one called the American in 9mm and 45 Auto.
Like others have said ARs have gone stupid cheap. I just ordered a complete upper and lower from Palmetto State Armory yesterday for $398.98, and that includes shipping.
AR pistols have been been getting more popular.
The 300 Blackout cartridge has found a solid following in the AR market. You can build one for the same price as one in .556 and the ammo has come down in price and can be found just about anywhere on the shelf.
The wildcat cartridge .277 Wolverine has really is still growing in popularity and should become a standard cartridge in a year or two.
Oh! The AR in 9mm has gotten popular now that lowers that take Glock mags are easy to get.
S&W's SD pistol line and Glocks have become the preferred handgun of Thugs.
Taurus had some trouble with some of their simi-autos. They redesign their 9 mm Millennium and others. Their new 2G guns are doing good. The plus is that their PT111 G2 Millennium will be take Sig mags.
In the world of surplus military guns, prices have gone crazy. Mosins are selling for over $200.
You say that you are buying your ammo right now. If you buy bulk on line, you can get 9mm for right at $200 a thousand, 45 auto for around $350 , 5.56 from $200 to $380. I buy from Target Sport USA and SG Ammo most of the time.
Nothing is better the the smell of gunpowder and coffee in the morning. Some things never change.

Welcome back.

Ruger has been on a tear introducing new firearms ... including the long-desired (by me) GP100 in .44 Special.

The most important and far-reaching gun-related developments since you left are that we have a new President and a new Supreme Court Justice. And we may get another Justice or two in the next 3-4 years. :)

Nothing much; just the mother of all gun-buying panics over fears Hillary would get elected and ban guns.

In retrospect, you probably saved a lot of money by being on the sidelines.

That's a lot of great information, thank you. Also, where did you order your lower and upper for that price?

I'm glad I missed the panic, I honestly kind of assumed the fear of potential war here the last few weeks would spark one but if there was just the "mother of all gun-buying panics", I'd say everyone is already pretty well armed.
