Everything I "need" except a reason to buy more guns and the funds to do so.... lol

My collection contains a lot of wants, a few needs, one (maybe more) frivolous impulses and some very thought out and researched ideas.

The collection has old school charm, as well as the very cutting edge of shooting technology. It has gently used sentimental moments and hours of searing hot, thoroughly run, action packed fun making new memories. And it has finely tuned instruments built for a single person for a singular purpose, as well as the very run-of-the-mill shooters that anyone can use for near any reason.

In my 'group of aquired trinkets' I have freedom, defense, enjoyment and survival.
And it all fits in a thirty eight gun safe! (For now.)

That's the saddest thing I've read today.:(
I wish you well and a speedy recovery from whatever is ailing you. God bless.

No need for sadness they all went to good homes along with the P'08 Lugers and P38s
I found that shooting semi auto rifles is more fun, and I burn thru ammo faster.

I owned a few firearms at one time, but they were all lost years ago in a boating accident.
Can someone explain this "boating accident" thing to me? I've read it so many times on gun forums and have no idea what it means. ATF troubles? Where'd this phrase come from.

Jessesky, love that K31.

One time I was at the Wannemacher show in Tulsa (probably 00-02 time frame), and a guy had for sale, for $1,500, a set of beautiful, pristine, matching K31 trainers chambered in .22lr, in a wood presentation case. I *really* should have bought them but didn't.

It’s just a thing that people say when pretending they no longer have anymore guns. Kind of like the dog ate my homework.
It’s one of those sayings that is out dated and only old farts use these days.;)

But in what context? Like if you don't want certain people to know you own guns? Sorry to derail. Just been bugging me. For years I thought people just really sucked at driving boats. Slow learner right?

To add to this thread, I'm not going to list all my long guns, but I will however post some pics of one long gun I bought 2 hours ago.
20181020_163301.jpg 20181020_163312.jpg 20181020_163349.jpg FN Belgian BAR .30-06. Grade 1 I think they called it. Fixed 4 power Redfield. Leupold base and rings. I paid $400!

This was my brothers first rifle. He shot a deer through the heart at a hair over 300 yards with it. He claims it was skill, I claim it was luck. To quote my late Grandpa "I'd rather be lucky than good" lol. Either way it was an impressive shot.

What happened was we have two hay fields separated by my driveway. My bro was in one and my cousin in the other. From my bro's position in the barn he could see both fields though. Nothing in his field but a big buck had wandered into the field my cousin was in. Bro seen it and waited maybe 5 minutes before taking the shot. My cousin comes in the house bawling her eyes out. "He took my deer!". My brother says "well I didn't think she was going to shoot it". The cousins whole family leaves thanksgiving early huffing and puffing. A memorable background story is always good to have with firearms. Anyways, it's mine now and at $400, I couldn't be happier.

It’s just a tounge in cheek way of saying you don’t want your firearms collection to be public record should the day come someone decides we can’t be trusted with them.

Ok. See that's kind of what I figured. Thanks!

It’s just a tongue in cheek, bad joke, dad joke type saying. Kinda akin to, “I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you...” from the good ol’ days.

The premise, of course, are the completely plausible facts that 1) if something sinks in a boating accident, it is largely considered gone forever, and 2) is gone forever without record. “I had guns but I sold them all,” would leave an expectation of receipts/bills of sales, but dropping it to the bottom of a lake is a great way to say, “it’s gone but I can’t prove it’s gone other than to prove it’s not here.”

It always baffles me how much people will put about themselves out on the internet. I know I share too much as it is, but I certainly don’t go sharing photos or lists of my collection online.

I want to make sure that if I’m ever robbed that the robber knows to bring a big truck with a trailer. That way I can collect on the insurance and start over again. But then I have an alarm and a crazy dog that has already done time in doggy jail for biting someone.
Since the flood of 2016 people are starting to say that they lost all their guns in the flood and the fire after the water went down.

Cooey Model 60 .22 Short, Long, Long Rifle inherited from grandpa via my uncle. Will keep.
Browning Buckmark sporter .22 LR. Will sell.
TC Encore born .50 muzzleloader, now also equipped with a 26" 30-06 Springfield barrel. Will keep.
Winchester SXP Defender 12 ga. with additional 28" barrel. Will keep.
Ruger born Predator in .223/5.56 recently bedded by a gunsmith in a Boyds At-one stock. Undecided (I am not allowed to shoot since the new stock due to a stupid (really, my bad) injury). If that new stock, the trigger job that was also just done and the muzzle brake added don't help me shoot it like I want it to shoot, I will probably just sell it and cry a little. A third barrel for the Encore, in .223, would then most likely replace it.

That is already sufficient; in fact, I suppose the old .22, the 12 ga. and the muzzleloader would have covered all my needs (no trip to Africa in my cristal ball), but is it enough? Judging by what I have seen and read here, I guess no matter how many we have, it is never really enough!

Accordingly, I now fancy an unknown .410 side by side (see other thread in shotguns).

Like a few others have said, I probably have more projects than many people have guns.

I sold most of my guns when I opened my first business to keep the lights on and inventory on the shelves. Thankfully these days, I have a paycheck someone else signs and a supportive wife. Although I think if we have to buy another new safe, she’s going to get less upstanding.

When I started buying again, it was mostly long guns, mostly old stuff, mostly walnut and blued steel, and many if not most have started as projects.

Since I can only shoot .22's and handguns at my house and don't have access to a range, I pretty much focus on rifles I can shoot in my side yard. So I've got eight 22lr rifles, a 22 mag, a 9mm carbine and a .357 lever action. There's also an AR15 and a .270 bolt action, but those don't get much love right now.

My new add,Rossi 92 .38/357 Mag. stainless.
