I would love to get a shooter 2nd gen F series Colt Dragoon, 1st Model that I found at a gun show. The guy wanted $695. which IMHO, is too much, as it has been shot, the cylinder stops are a littled buggered up, is in need of some timing work, as the cylinder has a nice ring scratched around its circumference, and some strange scratches on the back shoulders of the cylinder, like something at one time was dragging somehow on the cylinder. Otherwise it locks up tight. I brought all these shortcomings up to the seller and he said to make him an offer, but I told him I was only looking that day. I did get his card and told him I might get back to him.
So it definetely being shooter and not a collectable piece (not mint, no box, no papers, no plastic bag etc.) what would you offer for such a piece. It definitely would rate a trip to the goonsgunworks.
Realistically speaking, maybe, I'll just get my kids to get my I.A.B. .45-70 Sharps saddle ring carbine out of layaway. I went to McBrides in Austin today. They had 3 Uberti .45-70 Sharps in stock: one saddle ring carbine and a long Quigley for $1400ish and a shorter target Sharps for considerably less.
