1. as far as price for me it was a new rem 1100 for 280 bones.:what:

2. as far as quality, my 16" bushmaster hvy bbl rifle. 1000+ rnds so far without a single hiccup. very accurate for 16" (approx. 1-1.5" 100 yrds) and very good upper to lower fit.

3. as far as most fun per dollar: my 1022:p

4. and my best deal on a defensive carry gun: my kimber pro-carry. it was a little more than my colt gov (100 bux), but almost half the weight makes it a better value to me, and the full size frame allowed me to put my ctc grips on it too:D

Free.

A good friend gave me a Browning 1886 carbine. He knew I couldn't afford one at the time. I then gave my favorite Marlin 45-70 to another mutual friend. Rare to see a tear in a grown mans eye, but rewarding.

I've given guns to a couple of other friends.

Ruger Super Single Six - 22LR/22WMR.

Ruger Bisley in 22LR.

Ruger Blackhawk in 45Colt aka long colt.

Smith and Wesson on sale and with a close out rebate on a Model 60 in 38Special Plus P ONLY not the 357Magnum one. (I was using my late husband's 357Magnum and later on bought my own Model 686.)

Those are the top 3 to 4 firearms (Lower cost.) that I remember when I first started to buy my own guns in 1998, 1999, 2000 and on.

All of my own firearms were bought NIB.

The other models and calibers below cost more when I bought my own too.

The Glock
Smith and Wesson
Winchester
Browning
Marlin

I believe I've only purchased one "new" gun, a "Cooey" Winchester model 99 bolt action .22 IIRC it was $99.00 in about '72-'73. I did get a Rem 760 carbine in '77 but it was a graduation gift.

A couple of Decembers ago, I get a call out of the blue from my then-roommate.

"Would you be interested in a new Savage 110 in 7mm Rem Mag for $75?"

Um, yes. At the time, I was sort of casually in the market for a deer rifle. About this same time, Dan had hear a rumor that Wal-Mart was clearing out their Weatherby Vanguard rifles, so he went to the local store and asked a guy. Guy wasn't sure, but went back in the stockroom to see if they had any. Well, no Weatherbys, but he did spot a couple of 110s that were previously layaway guns and had been back there for a while. He scanned them, and they came up $75 each.

So we beat feet over there. Dan bought the second 110, which was a .243, and I took the 7mm. What made it even better was that I had $80 in Wally World gift cards. After they were redeemed, I handed the cashier exactly $0.33 and left with a NIB rifle.

Since then, I've chucked the POS Simmons that came with it in favor of a Sightron SII, plus glass bedding it. She'll now shoot sub-MOA all day long. Total investment: maybe $300

CZ 527 Laminated Varmint I just bought new in the box for $500 from a fellow member. Got it today, and it is well on it's way to the top of my favorite's list.

Back when I worked sporting goods at Walmart, it was possible to cherry pick some sweet deals ahead of the customers. Guess my best score was a marlin 94S in 44 mag for $75.00 Also snagged a Rem. 1187 premier 20 ga for $180.00

Many yrs back---two Ruger SS Super Blackhawks for $700

Store employee said the invoice on them was $690

Ruger Vaquero 44 Mag

As far as buying goes a JC Higgins model 20 for a total of $25. Great shape then and now. Got it from my grandpa. It was his second best shooting match gun.

3 yrs ago I was wandering around aimlessly in a show and stopped to look at what I thought was 17 enfield, nice but not special, asked to pick it up, when I did I noticed the Pat14 cartouche on the stock, almost illegible from dirt and oil. I looked at the price,$65.00, stuttered, asked if that was marked right, yes and there's some ammo too. Took it home with 300 rounds of new South African ammo, cleaned it up and checked headspace and have been loving it ever since. P-14 Enfields just don't exist in original configuration anymore around here.

Back during the dark Klinton years, 1997, I ran across a brand new, in the box full-size H&K USP9 V-1,( one w/ the polygonal rifling) W/6 10 rd mags for $450 out the door! It seems no one wanted a large 10rd 9mm, much to my advantage.

Among my fondest memories....

As new guns, I got a Sig 226 and several mags for $600, about 200 off, and it was the most accurate auto pistol I ever owned. Unfortunately, I traded it during my mis-spent youth.:banghead: What WAS I thinking?:banghead:
