Man, I feel like my good deal sucks now - you guys have managed to get some great deals.

The best deal I ever got, was a used Wingmaster made in 1955 for something like $157 out the door. The gun was in great condition.

Bought a H&K P2000 brand new for $500. Guy just didn't want it.

Also sold a GSG-5 once for $1350. It did have a few extras on it. I just put a ridiculous price on it at the high end range where I belong. I really didn't think it would sell - but during the frenzy, crazy stuff happened.

That was MY best gun deal ever...

Found an old rifle at an estate sale. Had no idea what it was. Asked the guy how much he wanted for it and he told me 100. I offered 80 and he took it. Got home and looked it up and it is an 1893 Spandau German Commission Rifle. I've been told it's worht between 2-300.

I picked up a used 22 pump rifle for $50. Found out a couple of months later that it was a Winchester 1890 and worth between 400 to 800.

I picked up a 1903A3 (remington) and 2 boxes of lake city ball for $50 in 1970. The stock had been "sporterize" with a saw :banghead: by the guys son and he wanted to get rid of it! I still have it, and it shoots 1.25 MOA with GI sights.

Sometimes it takes a few years for a great deal to become one. I purchased my first Mauser years ago for $150. I was recently offered $1800 for it (didn't take it!).

Colt SAA model 1873, made in 1879 with gov't inspector cartouches, all matching numbers, not messed with. $25.00

From a yard sale.....

When I held the SAA, it actually took my brain nearly 30 seconds to process what I was looking at... kind of Holy Crap moment.

This was back in 2001 or 2.

I still ask people at yard sales if they have any guns they would sell. :D

I think DRYHUMOR wins the thread...

That's going to be hard to beat, unless he paid $25 in 1908.

My best deal was last summer I bought several guns from my neighbor, a pristine S&W M36 for $100, a Savage M99EG in .250-3000 for $100 and several others for $100 each.

I was going to tell you guys about the Springfield Armory XD9 I bought for $150, but that deal pales in comparison to Dryhumor's deal. Dryhumor, you are one lucky s.o.b.

My best gun deal happens at Adventure Shooting Pro/Hummer dealership here in MO. My husband and I went there just to investigate this new place at the time, looked around. Then two weeks later, we invited a couple of friends to meet us there and I ended up buying my Glock, my friend bought a rifle and accessories all totalling to over $2K worth. I hint, hint at the owner that perhaps I should have got myself a discount for bringing those two friends over to their store. They didn't say anything, just smiled at me. Then our son came home last Thanksgiving. I decided to buy him a Beretta M9 (same as what he would have been issued after he graduates from military school...) for Christmas. The owner gave me 15% for my purchase, a Glock Team baseball hat, keychains, etc. Then I was promised a Glock Toolpad when I come back. Next day I ordered some accessories for my Glock via phone. When my order came, I got more freebies...I couldn't possibly be that lucky???...my husband and I am being treated like royalty in that store...

Moment of accidental truth came -- my friend and i am emailing one another and she mentioned that she and her husband went back two weeks ago to Adventure and hubby bought more accessories and another rifle. And last week they came back for ammo and other stuffs. She said her husband finds the store's price reasonable and the operators are very accommodating so they like the store. i like the store too, because of the attention that my DH and I am getting from them, not knowing that it was because of our friends that the store are treating us well...I hope not...

At 15 my grandfather gave me my great grandfathers old shotgun. It was a real nice Winchester model 12. I wasn't a real big hunter but I thought hey I'll cut off the barrel and make a riot gun out of it, but never got around to cutting it off. Sold it to a friend for 300 bucks, then begged him to sell it back to me, (eventually he did) at a profit none the less, but I got back great granddad's shotgun. All this went on, over a span of 30 years. I had always known that it was a fairly rare shotgun, just because in thirty years of being a gun fanatic I had never seen one quite like it. Finally at a show I saw one that was similar, guy was selling it 2250.00 bucks it was a Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck with vent rib, talked to the guy briefly and he told me Winchester only made the heavy ducks for a short period of time and very few had the vent rib, he also told me the early "donut post" vent ribs were even rarer and more valuable. When I got home I checked out my shotgun and sure enough it was a facktory vent rib donut post worth about 3 grand, and to believe it almost got hacked by a 15 year old bubba.......

I had a good friend give me a NIB Browning 1886 carbine, for free. Next morning I gave his buddy my Marlin 45-70, for free.

Bought a Smith 38-44 Outdoorsman with special order factory target sights, and an ivory bead front sight, in about 85% condition for $185 from a gun shop. They had it marked as a model 10. I told them it wasnt a model 10, they didnt care too much, so I bought it. Kept it a couple days, and mentioned it to a friend that had another shop, he collected Smiths. He traded me a new 586, a Smith holster, and cartridge belt for it. Wish I would have kept the Outdoorsman tho.
