what's the best raging bull?

It seems to me that the Raging Bull is somewhat of a flagship model for Taurus.
I've seen some junky Tauri in my time, but never a Raging Bull model that had the same issues.

Perhaps I'm being jingoistic, but I really don't feel that the quality of Brazilian craftmanship is on par with that of the weapons manufactured here in the U.S.

If you have an expectation that the weapon should work properly out of the box and that if it doesn't that your complaint should be handled quickly and courteously, then you should look at Ruger or Smith.

I've looked at the Raging Bull line a few times, if I was going to get one it would probably be the .454 Casull or .223 model.

WHAT?!?!?!

The .223 is rumor at the moment, but it's a high hope for me. Probably should have specified that before.

Regardless, my experience with Taurus is that they manufacture a firearm that does its job at a price point a lot of people can't pass.

I have a raging bull 454 and a super redhawk 44. The raging bull beats the redhawk in accuracy any way, any day.

But if you want to carry what you buy without waiting, you need to apply for a permit to carry a concealed firearm. The process is you go into the police station (unarmed, of course) you fill out the required application, pay the fee (I think around $70 USD) and they fingerprint you. Then I think you are run through the WASCIC, they send your request and prints to the FBI, run you through NCIC, etc. If you don't have a criminal history in about 30 days, they send you your permits. Then you go to a retailer, fill out local and federal paperwork, pay your money and submit to an instant background check with local law-enforcement. If that comes back okay, you may pick up your handgun and you are good to go.

The whole process takes about a month.

or if you live in Maine, and you want to carry concealed, you go to your town office, fill out a 1 page application, five them $25.00, the clerk types up a permit and hands it to you. the whole process takes about 15 minutes.

you don't need a permit to carry open in Maine, nor do you need one to buy a gun. no local paperwork, just the ATF form 4473, and a quick NCIC background check, takes a couple of minutes, writing out the check to pay for it takes longer.

different states have different laws. in Vermont, you don't need a carry permit, anyone can carry in Vermont as long as they are not a felon. some states it's not allowed at all.

I have a Taurus PT99, not a revolver but I love it and the quality is as good as i could ask.

As with the rest, I'd suggest starting with a .22. If you absolutely won't...then I say be daring get a caliber that people will look at and say "what the **** is that?" Pardon the langauge but that's what people say when you pull out a .357 MAXIMUM. When a bullet is the size of your pinky people tend to smirk :D

Differs from state to state. In Wyoming, I can buy a handgun from a private individual with no paperwork at all. If buying from an in-state dealer, my concealed carry permit obviates the need for an "Instant Background Check." I fill out a form and leave the dealer with the gun in hand. If I want to buy a handgun from a dealer from another state, it has to be shipped to a Federal Firearms License holder in Wyoming and I go through the same paperwork/CC permit routine.

Texas is the same, except that we have a reciprical agreement w/ several other states. I can buy a handgun in those states if I so desire w/ my Texas CCW (As of yet, I have not done so, my local dealer takes VERY good care of me).

shooter429:

You wanna share some of what you been smoking? It appears to alter your perception of reality quite drastically. Comparing Taurus to Smith and Ruger That is like saying between Ferrari, and Hyundai-I think the Hyundai is a better performer And much better than the Porche Boxter S, much better in the corners. Yeah, rriiiight

That's what YOU say. But you'd be wrong. The proper question is, what have YOU been smokin? You can say the sky is red over and over and over, but it doesn't make it true.

Heather,
I have noticed that you're in British Columbia. I thought canadians couldn't own handguns?
lloveless

Let me clarify that. I also being from British Columbia can say for a fact we can own handguns. They have to be full sized though... barrel no shorter than 4.1 inches. There are also a few other legal hoops to jump through (permits and such). We also cannot own calibers .25 and .32; also our magazines are restricted to 10 rounds (in Glocks for example) but other than that we can own handguns.
