What's the big deal about Weatherby cartridges?

My Weatherby is one of the last to be built by Howa in Japan. I had a Browning Bolt Action 7mm Rem. Mag that I finally decided was too heavy and sold it. I was at Segal's in Oakland (1996) checking out a new Browning in 30-06 when the salesman pointed out the this Weatherby is on sale. The fit and finish were far superior to the Browning and it was only $60.00 more. SOLD!
It's got a plain black plastic stock, 22" barrel and flat blued finish. It's got the Mark V action and it's a 30-06. It's a sweet shooting gun, as I said before it's the most accurate rifle I've ever had.
Except it wasn't made by Howa. The Vanguard receivers are made by them for Weatherby. The Mark V was made by JP Sauer when they were made in Germany, by Miruko in Japan and then production brought back to CA in 1995.

Miruko also males all the Browning Citori shotguns and some of the Winchester rifles now, like the new Model 94s. The fit and finish of their products is beautiful.

I'm not sure I'd trust a local gunsmith to get that double-radius shoulder right.

It's built into the reamer, no problem at all, at least for anyone who SHOULD be a gunsmith.

My .240 Wby. Mag., is build on a Remington 700 action, the chamber is just fine...

I have a lefty Savage 7mm Remington magnum in my safe that is still in the factory plastic bag. At some point it is going to lose the 7mm barrel in favor of a 26" 257WBY Shilen tube. When that happens it will be my fourth 257 and if it performs as well as I hope then a couple of the others will probably be put on the market.

"The technology of the cartridges and rifles was definitely at the leading edge at the time of introduction, but realistic performance was less than the marketing hype would have prospective buyers believe."

Really? Says who?

I am not the only person who remembers exaggerations made about Weatherby performance. Take a look at the vintage advertisement in post #32 in the thread link and I think you will understand accuracy of my statement.
