Whats the big deal?

So I have been doing my homework for my first handgun. I have my mind set on the new Beretta PX4 storm thinking with the 22 kit I can let my wife hone her skill wile I can have fun with a higher cal. I went to a dealer this weekend to check it out what a great piece. The dealer asked If I live In MA I said yes. He said because I live here in MA I cant sell you this gun because its for police or some crap like that. It has pd in the name of the gun. The dealer said he has people all the time asking about this gun and he has to tell the same thing. Whats the big deal? MA is the worst. The dealer said it is just political bull. Now I guess its time to do more homework for my first handgun. Can anyone give me some new direction for a firearm similar to this handgun? (Thats if I can own it in MA) the worst.....;.

Everything on that list, except for the Glocks, you can get from a dealer. The Glocks were approved for a short time but pulled off the market by our AG-Turned-Gubernatorial-Candidate Tom Reilly because he didn't like the loaded chamber indicator. The new S&W M&P was also available for about 1/2 day before it was pulled because the trigger pull was deemed too light.

If a gun is not on that list, you can't buy it new from a dealer. Keep in mind that you can buy anything you want from a private party (non-dealer), and that dealers can sell non-roster guns that were already in Massachusetts prior to 1998.

If you have your heart set on a Beretta PX4 Storm, look for a used one. Make sure it's already here in-state and do a private transfer because an FFL also can't transfer a non-roster gun. Good luck.

I purchased a S&W 1911 and a Marvel .22 upper for it. I can shoot .45acp and in a few seconds have it switched over to .22 Works great

So far it looks like Supermoto's suggestion for a 1911 and a Marvel upper is the best coarse of action. Can't go wrong with a 1911.

The new beretta px4 storm is the pimpest gun on the planet. If you cant get a hold of it, i would suggest the SIG p229 or the sig P239. Here are some pics. They are great guns for self defense, and range stuff.

The sigs are practically the rolls royce of guns, so be prepared to pay more. They are great guns though, and i would highly reccomend it.

If you want something a little more stylish for your wife, try a lady derringer

Wouldn't the PX4 be new enough that none would be around to be grandfathered in? Except for residents who bought one in another state, then moved into MA?
