What's the cheapest price you paid for a firearm that you own or have owned that has given you the most enjoyment and fun regardless of brand, caliber or gun type?

My pick would be the Heritage Rough Rider 22lr revolver. Great, nice fun gun for the brand new price of $100.

R/G 14, bought new for $39.95 at a PayLess Drug Store in 1974.
My, how things have changed!
Fun and surprisingly accurate, considering its 1-1/2 inch barrel.
I bought another a few years ago and it has been fun as well.

Probably not in the 'spirit' of the thread, but that would be an Ithaca o/u in 20. Pristine condition. Horse traded to me for $30.
Otherwise, 22's are hard to beat.

HP22a is easily at the top of the list for new guns, but it drops off a lot when I look at the junkers that I have bought and reworked. Quite often I end up breaking even or losing a little money when I have had my fun with them, but I do have a whole lot of fun with them. Notable guns like that are a sportsman 999, an American Double Action, sealed 8, Marlin Trap Gun, Smith 38 safety hammerless, a traditions 50 cal rifle which got cut to “canoe gun” length... there are a bunch. If I can buy for under $50 I probably will...no matter the condition if it’s even remotely repairable.

I think I paid 225 for an Iver Johnson top break in 32 S&W in absolutely beautiful condition with around a 4-5" barrel. Rough trigger, minimal sights, but so much fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate

My Diamondback DB9 micro 9mm has never given me anything but pain!... LOTS of pain! But it is my most carried gun and has been 100% reliable for me. At $200 it is still a heck of a good deal in my opinion.

I paid $79 for my M1 carbine about 30 years ago. It blows away any of the modern PCC's made today in form, function and shootability! My M1 carbine has cost me a small fortune though... it is THE ONE that got me hooked on mil-surplus arms. At the time all my buddies laughed... Michael bought an M1 carbine... Hahahah!

For a hand gun I would have to go with my Walther P38 which I paid ~$200-$250 for. It is a magnificent shooter! ... it just isn't high capacity and it has a Euro butt mounted mag release.

The best deal I ever made was my first "Real" handgun, a used Ruger P85 with 5 mags for a little over $200. I latter swapped it back to the same gun shop straight across for a "practically" new Beretta 92 INOX... and the dealer was darn near peeing his pants over making the trade (The dealer probably threw away the P85 and sold the high capacity magazines for $125 each). I still have the Beretta, it is still one of my favorites and it still looks practically new even though it has seen a LOT of range time.

That's going way back in the day. Do you guys remember Woolworth Drug Store? I can't remember if they ever sold firearms though.
I believe they did. I think I remember seeing a price tag on the box for my Dad's 99 Savage that came from Woolworth's. I think it was more of a department store.

It's a toss up between my old Remington 581 22lr or my old Taurus 357. Neither was expensive and both have given years of fun.

Keystone Crickett, just a little past the hundred dollar mark at The Sporting Goods Store That Shall Not Be Named. It's not the most accurate or quickest shooting gun I've owned, but it oozes character, and with the exception of my old Glenfield 60, has taken more small game than any .22 I've owned.

Yes, they did. My brother was an assistant manager at a Woolworth's in the late 60s. He bought his Ruger Single Six there for about $75.
One of my high school buddies bought a SMLE 4 at Woolworth's shortly before it closed in SLC back in the 80s.They also had M1 Grands and carbines on the rack there too. Alas, by the time I could, it was all gone.

M91 30 I paid $35 for out of a barrel of them back in 90 I believe. Very accurate and lots of fun, but danger heavy and the only ammo I could get at the time was FMJ and reloading took care of that.

Sears, Payless Drug Store, Woolworth's Drug Store, I'm sure there were others. Those were the days, where you could walk in and buy a gun, ammo, and a pack of bubble gum.
