What is the most you have spent on a single firearm? What firearm have you acquired for the cheapest price?

Also, what is the best deal you have ever gotten on a gun?

Luckily all my firearms are handmedowns from my father. The most valuable being an Original 9mm IMI Uzi (approx $1,200 street price) and the cheapest being a tie between a Taurus .357/.38 4in revolver and a .380 Mac-11.

The best bargain I ever got was the rifle I purchased from my wife's uncle. It is a Sako single shot action, with a 30 inch Hart barrel, in .220 Swift. It also has a Canjar single-set trigger, a McMillan stock and came with a Kahles 3-12x56 Helia S scope. The price? $1200.00. The scope alone retailed for $1100; the action cost about $500 when I purchased it.

I can't say about most expensive, but least expensive is easy: an FIE Titan II in .380 that I bought for about $150. Fit and finish left a lot to be desired, but it worked every time I pulled the trigger. That's all I could ask for!

$$$$$---Beretta O/U 20ga $2400

-$---Raven .25 $25

Good deals---lots of them---I rarely pay going retail price for most anything---here and there I will---but its not very often.

Cheapest, most expensive.

The cheapest was a .22LR revolver I had years ago. I had it as a tackle box gun when I lived in Va. We used to catch a lot of bowfin. They got teeth, man! Pop 'em and get your hook back. Bought it new for $75.

Costliest is in the works. Bought a Springfield G.I., $450. $200 more in parts, about $650to go in gunsmithing, in the works right now. In the end, it will be my ideal carry gun and should last for many years to come. Total about 1,500.

I posted this over in the "Revolver" section...
I've got a T-99 Arisaka with chrome-lined bbl that I got for $35.00. To be fair, I've sunk about a hundred into sporterizing it. It's a real shooter, though. As soon as it's finished, I'll have a very accurate deer-elk rifle. The most expensive thing about the rifle is buying actual 7.7 jap brass. I could fire-form 30-06 for it I suppose, but I don't own a 30-06, so I"ve just been buying brass. $35.00 for 50.

Most expensive purchased gun is my Springfield TRP $1300. But, I have more invested in my other Springfild with all the custom work that has been done to it.

The most inexpensive gun I own is a Keltec p11 that I bought off a freind. It ran me $150.

Cheapest gun? A tie. I bought a brand new 10ga. magnum side by side from the Zamacola Hermanos factory in Eibar Spain in 1969 for $50.00. It's killed a lot of ducks and I still have it. I bought a Winchester Model 74 (.22 shorts only) in 1984 for $50.00. Still have it. Have killed several hundred tree squirrels with it.

Most expensive? Remington Model 700 CDL with Leopold VXIII 2.5 X 8 scope. A year ago for about $1100.00

In '07 dollars:

Mosin is worth $70
Webley (antique) .455 is worth about $650

That's assuming I could find a reasonable buyer. At a gun shop I'd be lucky to see $25 for the Mosin. That's the sad part of all of these questions... most people list what they paid, which is rarely what something is actually worth.

What's a S&W model 29 6-1/6" from about 1965, complete (wooden box, etc), worth? A lot more, even counting inflation, than someone paid for it in 1965. But an 1980s era Marlin 60 is doubtless worth less than new price in adjusted dollars.

Ruger .22

The least expensive rifle: a Ruger 10-22 I bought new in the 70s for about $50

The least expensive pistol: a Ruger standard .22, bought new in 1976 for about $60.

Still have both. :)

My most expensive are probably a custom 1911 and a custom Remington 700 in 30-06, have about $2500 in each.

Most expensive: $1100. CMMG Middy Upper w/Ameetec Lower (Pictured w/Bushy lower, still waiting on Ameetec lower).

Cheapest was a single shot 12ga, that I paid $40 for. It was a knock around farm gun that saw a lot of use. I sold it 6 years ago for $50, so I got my money out of it.

Most expensive was a Beretta 686 Onyx 12ga that cost $1500. It ended up being traded on 2 other rifles.

Best deal I ever got was on a like new Browning BT-99. I gave the guy $400 for it, and ended up selling it for $900 a year later.

Let's see...

Most expensive? Not telling. Not that it was a lot of money, but because it shows just how cheap I am. :uhoh:

Least expensive? FIE Mod. E15 in .22 Magnum. I know that it had a cylinder at one point for .22lr, but it wasn't offered. Back when I worked at Outdoor America, one of our regulars came in with it, and wanted the gunsmith to have it repaired by the weekend (it was Tuesday). Of course, the 'smith couldn't do it as the parts would've taken about 10 days to get here from Numrich.

The guy approached me, explained what was going on, and asked if we had any new single-action .22 revolvers and what I would recommend. Seems he was taking a few new shooters to the range and needed a good starter gun. As we were waiting for the 4473 to get back on his Heritage Rough Rider 7" (just like the one I have), we were lightly chatting about random stuff when he asks me if I'd like to have the E15.

My reaction? :uhoh: :scrutiny: "So what exactly's wrong with it?"

"Well, the pin that the cylinder rotates around is missing. Also, the bit that holds pin in there is missing too. Lost them a while back when I was cleaning after a range trip, and haven't found 'em... but if you want it, it's yours." At this time, the 4473 comes back as Accepted, and I sign off on it. "'sides, I apparently just got a new one, so why would I need two?"

I didn't have the heart to tell him that it'd be my second one as well. :D

Anyhow, long story short, I ordered the parts from Numrich, installed them, and it shoots just fine for a gun I basically paid $30 for. :) Loud, accurate, and fun.

I recieved a Swiss M1911 for no cost. Just some time spent cleaning. That was a rather good deal.

Most expensive would probrobly be the Winchester 52. Its worth the pennies however.

Most $ - 1150$ Benelli SBE

Least $ - 200$ S&W 457, Actually this gun was also my the best bargain I've ever had. Bought it of my bro-in-law's dad. He had bought it years earlier NIB and never even fired it! I tried to tell him he could get alot more money for it, but he declined. We have a family policy, ALL GUNS STAY IN THE FAMILY, NO IF ANDS OR BUTS!;)
