What's the holy grail of firearms?

Winchester Model 12 shotgun serial number 1,000,000 presented by Winchester during WWII to Gen. Hap Arnold of the Army Air Forces. Skeet, or at least a form of it, was used to teach deflection shooting to aerial gunners during the war. Wichester was touting the fact that their guns were among those used.

"Holy Grail" sub-species: 1911-types

Colt 1911 (some say Springfield 1903), Serial #25468, used by the famous Sgt. Alvin York in WWII to win CMH. Lost from a display of his along with his CMH, the Medal was recovered. Price on that 1911 if found? Prob in the $100K range at auction. Now THAT'S a Holy Grail!!

Several possibilities

For self defense: .50 cal, no recoil, no weight, folds to credit card size (not fireable if folded otherwise it would be a Class II AOW).

Hunting: .30 cal or so, no recoil, no muzzle blast, drops elk at 500 yards with 1 in groups.

Historical:

Pristine Luger carbine, wth presentation box.

Luger .45 ACP

Pristine (yup, they'll all be pristine) Smith & Wesson Volcanic Arms pistol.

Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver

Let's stop there. Because it's unique, let's go with, of all of these, the Luger .45

Any firearm the State of California say I can't have, especially if it's black, deemed "Evil", frightens small childern, senselessly murders kittens and puppys, uses enriched weapons grade plutonium for night sites, and is equipped with a twin turbo charged Diesel engine.

I think a Ma duece with a A.C.L.U. sticker would be cool too.

Hmmmmmm? I've owned (briefly) five P3ATs including the one in my pocket. Whenever I enter a NO GUN zone and have to surrender my weapon to a locker, the management always inquires, "What is that?" Sometimes I say "It's the new Baby Glock G-69", but their interest is always high: I have re-sold 4 P3s since I bought my first one. Only failure: the hammer-spring broke on my first one. I like the early-extractor model the best, but they've all shot well for me. The only mod I made to them was to remove that sharp edge at the front of the trigger. I outlined the "sight" with Bic white ErrorHider and find it very durable on a pocket gun. Off-hand I shoot 5" groups @ 25yds, and 2" groups at 4yds. I'm gonna sell this one and try their P9 next. +P .380s are not good enough.

GE minigun from Terminator and predator. 20mm vulcan auto cannon that somebody was photo'd fireing on a tripod at the machine gun shoot.

Hmmm. I'd love to have one of the old .577 bland revolvers like Ross Seyfried has.

Somewhere out there is a Japanese rifle and pistol my grandfather took off the men trying to kill him back in the Pacific.

They got swiped after he died.....but they're out there somewhere.

I would want any rifle in good condition that was carried by a militia member during the revolutionary war. That to me would symbolize the 2nd amendment and its true meaning. I had an ancestor who fought in the PA milita against the Indians during the revolution. I wish I had whatever he carried.

......a Charleville?

I too like the idea for an original 5.45x39mm AKS-74u

Or how about Vasili Zaitsev's M91/30 with PU telescopic sight?
I know it is in a museum in either St. Petersburg or Moscow.

OR...

look, i am not a religous freak, but i DO believe in GOD, and Jesus, and "holy" things. but Jesus did not carry a firearm, so there can not be a "holy grail of firearms" as none of them are holy! firearms are a man made invention, not something GOD gave to us. and in a way, i do take some offense to the "holy" line.
now, being a gun freak, the most loved, best followed, imitated, etc would be fine by me. personally, i would just go absoloutly nutz for a real Holland and Holland bolt action rifle chambered in 300 Holland and Holland magnum. OR a Holland and Holland double chambered in something like 600 or 700 nitro express. i probably would only shoot the later once, just to see how hard the monster kicked (as i could never afford to go to africa and shoot something with it) but it would be AWESOME! those guns ARE a work of art! custom fitted to you. every gun nuts dream. but, how many of us can afford $25,000 - $45,000 for a rifle!?!

Phhh hell if I know, I like semi auto civilian versions of assault rifles, I can't think of a "holy grail" well actually I can think of something I guess you could call the "holy grail," original production Colt SP1 with 3 pronged flash suppressor and early magazine. I know where to get one exactly like that, but I don't really want to shell out $3,300.

For those of us who like evil commie guns:

Holy grail would almost certainly be a real, select-fire Krinkov. Or maybe a real SVD.

That, or the VSS Vintorez. As far as I know, there isn't a single one available. Nor will there ever be.

Holy Grail?

INHO, It must be a never shot, first series, Colt Single Action Army serial # 00001 5.5" Nickel Plated Revolver in .45LC.
