I'm currently staying in Cinn., OH for a few days. I keep reading about all the great buys in the area.

Any shows, etc. happening in the area tomorrow? Any recommended gun stores to look at?

Thanks

Great buys where? Target World in Tri-County isn't bad. (They also have an indoor range and you can rent guns) Neither is One Shot Inc. In Newtown. I also like Shooters Supply in Loveland. There is a bunch more around the area but those are the only three I have personally been to.

No gun shows this weekend that I know of.

My favorite band in the world at the moment hails from Cincinatti... Over The Rhine!!

If they were playing, I would suggest you go see them, then buy a gun tomorrow!

Target World is the most dangerous indoor range I have ever been to.

It not that bad. No one has been shot yet.....................

I all honesty I have only been there once to shoot. I usually go out to my father-in-laws house in Brown County and shoot there.

Gun show this weekend in Dayton, just a little drive north. As for shops, Target world is nothing short of boring, one shot has deals now and again. Peterson's has way overpriced collectors stuff, and some way overpriced shooters: yugo sks=$600, thats not a joke, the price is but the statement is true.

Bill Goodman's- go early and stay late. I won't make it until Sun.

I heard that was a really good show but I thought the next one was not until October?

(The Sharonville show always sucked)

I forgot AIM Surplus. I think they are in Dayton too.

National Gun Day (2100 table show) in Louisville this weekend... Thats a short trip from Cincy.

I find it hard to believe that no one has been shot at Targetworld. Saturday mornings there are more dangerous than Baghdad. The have no range officers, and seem to welcome gangbangers to the range. The last time I was there, three thugs were shooting a pistol grip shotgun at a B-27 at 4 feet.

Now that you mention it I did see some gangbangers looking at guns the last time I was there.

Try One Shot Inc. and Shooters Supply.

Dcoop, your right it's in sharonville this weekend, my bad, about a seven minute drive for me..he he

If I told ya what I've found in there you'd be sick! It is a small show and at times is a total waste, but I have to admit I have come across some nice stuff as well.

Thanks for all the replies and info!

I'm staying in Wyoming, and Sharonville looks pretty close on the map.

Where exactly is the show?

Oops, never mind, just looked up OH gun shows and the show is next weekend, not today.

Prices at Target World are ok. and I'll echo the range comments. I've shot there about five times. No issues the first two times; may have been my negligence in not noticing. 3rd time some guy had his ~10y.o. son shooting unsupervised in the lane next to him. 4th time there was another puke that was doing speed draw and shoot a full mag as fast as he could drills with a full range of people on either side of him, the guy working the range said nothing, I left. 5th time which was a few days ago, the same thing was going on, the range guy said something and stopped him; there was also a young ~20s couple (I'm 20s too) in front of me rented an M&P 9mm. About 10 minutes later in the range my buddy and I were approached by the girl that had bullets loaded backward into the magazine asking for help; we fixed it for her; showed her how to load; 15 minutes later she came back asking for help again......not sure what he was doing down there; maybe too embarrassed to come ask or something; had to leave me wondering if they had ever touched a gun before so we left again. I wish there were some outdoor ranges around here that weren't private clubs.....anyone know of any?

You may want to check, if I remember right it's 4 or 5 have died at target world. I am real sure that their has been 1 suicide there with in the last 2 years.

Aim Surplus was mentioned. Great place but they are located in Middletown, not Dayton and are only open M-F.

If you are looking to buy, I'd recommend Loveland Shooters Supply. They are fairly close to Cinci. If I buy from a dealer at Bill Goodman's shows in Dayton it is almost always from Loveland Shooters Supply, they typically have the best prices and as good an inventory as anyone.

ONE SHOT in Newtown, Ohio is one of my favorites. About a 10-15 min drive from Cincy.

There's also a place right in Kentucky, like 10 min over the river called SHOOTER'S SUPPLY. That place is awesome, there's one in Greater Cincy too, not affiliated, but both are great.

Target World is OK... I don't mind spending money there, but if I don't have to, I won't.

When I lived there Cincinnati was the most anti-gun town I had ever been in. I recall there were no gun stores within the city limits because of the waiting periods (just in the city, not state-wide) and "assault weapon" ban. A felony charge for each gun and each magazine over 10 rounds.

Well, if any politicians from Cincinnati happen to hear of this, I heard of one former resident who ignored you dickheads and your un-Constitutional gun ban and kept 2 "assault weapons" and about 300 magazines in his home in direct and deliberate violation of your BS law. I suspect he would tell you to kiss his ass at this point now that he lives where the Bill of Rights is still in effect.

Hey, Cincinnati elected Jerry Springer as mayor. What more do you need to know?

You might be thinking of this one in PA??

I can't find any links to what you refer to; I'd like to read the stories if you can find them though. I had one of the employees there tell me of an off duty cop that shot himself in the arse outside there while reholstering; he said it was just a scratch and the medics patched him up and sent him on his way but that's all I've heard of.

The city is very anti-gun. Just to clarify I live in Clermont County which is next to Hamilton County where the city is located. Clermont County is pro gun controlled by Republicans.

Ohio is one of those situations where the big cities (Columbus, Dayron, and especially Cincy) are awful politically while the rest of the state is openly pro 2nd Amendment.

We were very happy to get the Hell out of the Queen City in 1996.

I took a trip to Target World just to look around. When I asked one of the sales people if he had a certain caliber ammo, .38-40, he replied he had never heard of it. Not a good sign.

I found their prices to be a little higher than my local shops, but not outrageous.

Looked like they're trying to corner the market in gun safes though, never saw so many in one place.

Ammo prices look good at Aim Surplus, I may take a ride out there.

An aside, the local parks had a free day of rock wall climbing and archery instruction. Took the grand kids and they enjoyed it. Climbed the rock wall myself, lot of fun.

AIM is wonderful! They have great customer service, and good prices. There is no showroom, so look the website over and call and speak to someone before you make the trip. That will ensure you get what you need.
