In another thread, I just came up with my own little measurement device called the "Sporting Purpose Average Arsenal Rating" or SPAAR.
A "1" arsenal rating is any arsenal with a machine gun and something else less evil, or someone with only AKs, ARs, or other "assault weapons."
A "10" is my brother in law who allegedly owns a deer rifle (he likes to claim guns stored at other family member's homes are his when they 'aint) but only pulls it out once a year and isn't even allowed to keep it in the house with his narcissistic wife.
I pegged my arsenal at 2.78 until I sold my Marlin lever action .357 the other day. Now I'd put it at 2.3. My Remington 710 bolt action 30.06 and my Rem 1100 12 guage keep it above 2.
Influencing factors:
Any machine gun takes the average to at least 1 (having just a full auto would be a zero sporting purpose rating)
D.A. Revolvers can't pull the rating below 5 by themselves. I'm putting S.A. revolvers at 6.
Bolt actions with bayonettes, by themselves are between and 4 and 5. Regular bolt actions, especially the ones with those cheesy flip down hinged floor plates are a 6.
I peg muzzleloaders at 8 (not at 10 as you may have expected because knowledge of proper use of powder is a must when the feces hit the propeller).
A 5.7 mm X 28 mm pistol, a 50 BMG, or anything belt fed takes the arsenal immediately to at least 2 without passing go.
Things that will drag down an arsenal's rating by at least a point: any over and under, a Thompson contender, a non machine gun that's pre WWI, anything stamped "Sears" or "Montgomery Ward," or anything Prince Charles would own.
I'm still tinkering with the system.
