What's your favorite 1911 that you own?

I have several "favorites". Thank God I don't have to choose. Kind of like one's children. This is one that has been put back to "presentable" by Bill Adair. It had little finish, but no pitting, and was a very sound Colt, made in 1925. Since it's "collectors value" is gone, I carry it often. It has all original parts EXCEPT an EGW barrel bushing, and the barrel & bushing have been fitted by SDM Fabricating, allowing it to shoot like Zeus with lightning bolts. The tiny sights make it a challenge, but it is sheer simple beauty, and performs like the big buck guns. I would, and do, stake my life on it. Nothing has been polished or altered inside (except tightening the barrel), so I'd call it basically stock, as Colt designed and produced it. Adair put the high polish & fire blue trim found on the original 1912 Commercial. Grips are mammoth ivory from Charles Turnage. Proof that if it is made right, and broken in, a righteous 1911 will work as it should (this gun is as reliable as any other gun I own).

I've got a little piece of history. Dad bought it in the mid '60s. Its a US Army National Match that was hand assembled at the Springfield armory for the Camp Perry national matches in 1964.

Its a pretty rare little pistol, and for all its years, it is still the tightest, most accurate, and most reliable 230gr roundnose thrower (that's what is was tuned for).

It would be really hard to decide on one favorite. I've gotten rid of a couple of 1911s I didn't like for one reason or another. I carry three different 1911s, so I'll just pick those for now. All three have nice triggers, are tightly fit, reliable and are very accurate. That's all you can ask for from a gun.

The first is a Sig C3, alloy frame CCO size.

Next, a Baer Stinger, steel frame CCO size.

And an Ed Brown Special Forces Carry, steel, Bobtail Commander:

The only one I own so far, a Customized Kimber Tactical Custom II>

NP3/Roguarded frame, with a trigger job done by Robar as well, with some Crimson Trace and night sights to sweeten the deal; an excellent CCW piece when the climate allows it.

I was looking at the night defender for two reasons, the grips and the night sights.

The defender grips would probably be more functional, but I can't stand the sight of them. They'd be swaped out immediately.

they actually have different variations on those wood grips. the one at my local shop has really great looking grips.

kinda' a mutant 1911 , but I like everything about it, and it is a 12-shooter....

masinge2 , it is just the background cloth touching it - these are GREAT postols, made in Israel, and yes, the same company will be making Daly's if they ever get the contract signed.....been waiting awhile.....same compamy, BUL, is in big demand in Europe as target folks line up for 'em....they make a racer model that's popular in Australia that's about five grand...
mine feeds ANYTHING....

Faves--a tough choice

These would be the ones

The Series 70 was out of the box in electroless nickle with blue controls and Colt-badged Pachmyr grips. Has a pachmyr mainsrping housing I added. Used to have a blue bushing, too, until that collet bushing developed a crack at 9 oclock. Trigger is near perfect, despite the abuse I've put it through. Lost round count on that one between 6K & 7K.

The Norinco was more of an accident, but it has been too reliable to not keep. The Hogue grips have only made it better.

My win-the-lotto dream would be to get a matched set of Officer's, Commander, and Government, in Royal Blue--but a set in e/n with blue controls would be sore tempting.
