whats your favorite 44mag mid-range load

10.0 of Unique with a 240 LSWC, Keith's practice load.

That much Unique gives me a sharp recoil jab instead of the reasonable push of magnum powders. For me, it leads badly as well. To go that hard I use IMR4227 or A2400..

8.4gr universal behind a MBC 240gr LRN. My notes indicate 1050fps out of revolver (not sure I ever chronod) and my 77/44 sends them about 1200fps (these I did chrono).

how does 2400 burn at 17gr is it diry/unburnt powder or clean enough at 17gr ?
was not sure how 2400 burns down loaded

Works just fine. Snappy but not violent.

7.5gr. of universal under a 240gr. SWC gives me 950 to 1,000fps. out of a 6" model 629. Burns cleaner and meters a whole lot better than Unique with less powder for similar performance.
