Whats your favorite firearm of all time? WHY???

If my house was on fire.....my family was evacuated and safe and I only had the chance to grab one firearm to save from the blaze, it would be my Springfield M6 combo gun. My absolute fave. It shoots every .22 rimfire from Stingers to shorts. The lower shotgun barrel is OK for shot, but it shoots slugs great.

Strykerfire,

Lets get a good old fashion debate

OK, but not neccessarily in the fashion you might mean. :D

In describing the AK47 you said:

Fun, accurate, durable. Built like Stallen himself hard as hell and backs it up with ferocity.

It is fun, durable, accurate, hard and ferocious if need be. I would associate most of those quailities with the Russian people.....or the K-man himself. I would never associate any redeeming qualities with that monster Stalin. "hard, devious"...Yes.

If you factor in that he probably had Lenin poisoned to grab his place, I bet the term "usefull idiots" probably brought a smug grin to Stalin's face as he passed Lenin's Tomb.

Remington 870 Wingmaster pump shotgun.

Versatile, dependable, rugged, relatively inexpensive, and good lookin to boot. One gun that can handle just about every chore except concealed carry (unless you cut it wayyyyy down and always wear a trench coat!)

Webley Mk. VI. One of the best service sidearms ever made. If they still made them today, in popular calibers, or had full moon clips back then, I bet the advancement of the semiautomatic pistol would have been much slower. Shame it went by the wayside.

AK's are accurate? OK, you can hit a person with one I guess. If that's accurate enough for you then I guess they're accurate.
As far as my favorite gun I'd have to go with any S&W K-frame. Especially my 3" .357.
Rugged, easy to carry, powerful enough, versitile, great trigger and it always works.
well if i was shooting a person with a A.K. Than ya it would take just one. And really accurate open sights out two 200 yards i dont know who you are taking shots at that diastance but it might not be self defense at that point. I agree with you though about a K frame. l've owned two model 19's 4 inch blued combat magnum and a 6 inch nickel. Wondefull firearms.I have plenty of wonderful firearms. N.M. garand, 03 A1 Remington mint. Inglis High power, and many other military firearms. But the Klashnikov is got a space in my heart that takes up alot of room.

Pistol CZ75C rifle Marlin 336. Neither are my most expensive. They are my favorites because they work every time and because they feel right in my hands, the operation of both is instinctive to me, they both point quickly and easily, and when I really really want to make a hole in something from 10' to 300' these are the guns that I'm most likely to accomplish it with on the first try.

if need be nothing, it is. And in the fashion i stated. He was hard as nails. And if Klashnikov would have got it wrong.... You alredy know.

For me, it's the 1911.

Why?

It's what my father carried in WWII. It's what I carried during my own service time in the mid-70s.

(note: my grandfather didn't carry one in WWI. His side arm was the S&W M1917)

For years it has been a Glock 23C. Small enough to be easily concealed even by an average sized person like me, light, accurate, powerful enough for sd imo (.40 cal), more than enough mag capacity (13 rounds), no recoil hardly with even the high velocity stuff, perfect comp design (v comp does not interfere with my night vision, and durable.

1911 got new in 1998 a stainless custom gold match by kimber.

48,000 rounds later i still like it. like the colt 1903, H&K P7 and S&W M60 3" a hole lot to

Rifle, Caliber .30, Automatic, Browning, M1918............Good size round & great rate of fire.

If you've only fired a few it should be easier.
In the 65 years since I shot my first one there's been so many I could never come up with a single all time favorite. :)
True, the more guns I get the harder the choice will be.

I would say my favorite gun so far is the Walther P1.

Handgun is my Sig220 combat & curent rifle is my newest Vltor build ar15. But a rifle that is iconic & a real killer in the right hands is the Springfield 03 & the 1911 colt. Those weapons scream Americana & are to this day the most effective weapons made. I have a passion for the Browning m2 50 cal machine gun that has basically unchanged & still in use & still killing & tearing things up. I will own one of each of these weapons one day

yes it screams Americana. I have a picture with my 03, M1, and 1911 on the flag laid out and it is absolutly stunnig. Might make it into a poster. Will post it tomorrow

I'm thinking the 1911. I have plans in place for a custom 1911 when I have the funds to actually start building one. :)

That would be a tough choice between the Colt Single Action Army and M1911. I would probably go with the M1911 as it's just such a versatile design.
