What's your favorite gun in your collection?

My great-grandfather's Winchester 94, which I hope will stay in the family for generations.

Favorite? Let's see...
Of the guns I currently actually own, my favorite is easily the stainless steel Rossi Rio Grande in .30-30 I call Big Dan. My father gave it as a Christmas present to me in 2012, and let me tell you, at the time, it was a POS. It barely cycled, the bolt wouldn't close half the time on factory ammunition (and you could forget about handloads), and after two passes cycling through the gun brass would get so chewed up I would be scared to actually fire it. But I had always wanted a real cowboy gun worthy of Montana, and by God, I wasn't about to come this close just to be deterred by these sorts of problems. I don't know how many times I have taken that gun apart to sand rough edges and polish the surfaces, but I know it was a lot more than once. Now you couldn't ask for a better gun.

Of the guns I know I'll inherit one day, my favorite has to be the Savage Model 99 in .308 that belonged to my great grandfather Bles. It was the gun I shot my first buck with, and while I don't any stories from great granddad directly relating to the gun, from the ones I have heard of him I know that gun went on a lot of adventures.

Favorite gun? That's not an easy decision. I have no family heirlooms handed to me, so I'll have to pick the one I've put the most work into.

My Zastava .22 WMR rifle that I turned into a carbine.

I refinished the stock, increased bolt travel for better ejection, tuned all three mags to function, cut/crowned the barrel to 16.25", added replacement sights front and rear, shortened the stock about 1/2" at the butt, added ammo storage inside the stock, and modded the barrel rear sight mount to install a red dot.

The time spent was much more than the gun was worth, but that's the nature of a project I suppose. :)

Thanks chicharrones .
Yup she's a cutie, all matching right down to even the smallest parts .

Hard to say. My granddad's 1890 Winchester bought by my great grandfather in the 1920s, or the single shot Springfield .22 my dad received from his father (used) as a 12th birthday present (the first gun I ever shot) in 1939. Maybe my dad's shotgun, a Remington Model 10 Trap Grade. Hard to choose.

My favorite to shoot is my M1 Garand though.

Gotta say my Dad's old Browning Double Auto.

Next to that would have to be my 1969 4" Colt Python. Not perfect, but really sweet. And a real gas to shoot. Always gets a look or two. Seems like people that have 'em don't shoot 'em very much. I do mine, though. Life is too darn short to shoot ugly guns.

My IHC M1 Garand. Could not replace it, especially for the $165 I paid for it in 1993.

My favorite changes all the time. Depends on what I'm reading, watching or youtubing. I can go from my Browning HP to a vanilla g19 then to the 1911, but what about single action big bores? I love all of them. I'll really like the next one I buy, but I don't yet know what that one will be?! Tough question.

My favorite would have to be my modern Winchester Model 1895. Close second though is my SKS carbine. Love that thing.

I fell in love with the 1895 when I held it for the first time. The build quality is exceptional, it points naturally and the sights line up the instant I lift the gun. I love the fact that it is 30-06 and it is very accurate. It also has an amazing trigger pull.

I love the SKS carbine due to its caryability, size, accuracy, and it's just plain fun to shoot. I even got my last dear with this gun. I wish I had bought 10 more just like it back when it was $110. 102_4094-2.jpg

That reminds me ... as much as I really like firearms and as many different types that I have in my Accumulation, I have never been able to warm up to my SKSs. I feel the tiniest bit of something for the Albanian, possibly because it looks a bit different/better (to me).

Probably akin to how I feel about my Cz52 pistols, although that is driven more by how cumbersome & uncomfortable I find those.

I can remember first handling a few SKSs at the 1988 Medina, OH Gunshow. They were priced at, like, $69-$79, IIRC. I felt ... nothing. I was surprised, especially since I wanted to buy most of the firearms that caught my eye. ;) (BTW, I left that show with a sweet, lightly-used Marlin 1894S .44mag carbine).

Interesting pieces of history but they just don't "speak" to me, y'know?

From everything that I have read in many forums, almost everyone loves these little rifles. I would like to, but ... :(

Repurposed 9mm Colt Combat Commander into 9x23 Win.

My Springfield Armory SS Compact .45 (4”bbl) was my EDC CW for 15 years running. By my daily association it was my favorite, but…

Several years ago I breathed new life into my 9mm Colt Combat Commander when I had a Colt Gov’t barrel in 9x23 Win. cut down for it. The 9x23 is a truly reliable, easily reloaded straight walled case with .357 mag. ballistics in an autoloader with the recoil of a 9mm+P round. This is now my normal EDC and again familiarity breeds appreciation.

I could tell you my least favorite, but can't pin down my favorite to one handgun or long gun. The least favorite is a Marlin .22LR bolt action repeater. Not that I don't like it, it's just that there's nothing special about it. All my other guns are either unique (to me), have a sentimental attachment, or fill a specific niche.

Ruger #1 .270, it was my go to rifle, both my sons killed their first deer with it as did several of my friends kids. Really accurate, great trigger. What's not to love?

i have several family guns including a 32-40 winchester hiwall, and rem targetmaster 22 and a rem model 11 12 ga.

if i had to sell all my guns but one id prob keep my old rem model 7 in 243. it has put more meat on the table than any other gun i own. dozens of deer.also is a fine woodchuck and coyote rifle.

i would hate to be limited to one gun but that is the one id choose.

it is accurate enuf to head shoot small game and also light and quick enuf for a truck gun or for home defense.

This one, which my psychotic computer will no doubt post either upside-down or sideways.

Retirement present from Les after 21 years.

That's one incredible retirement gift! Would take that over the traditional gold watch any day!

Rock Island 1903 that my grandpa had built into a semi-custom rifle. No pics on my phone. Second is the Spanish M44 Air Force Mauser that my dad gave me. Everything else is a very distant third.
