What's Your favorite 'Safe Queen'

My Colt 3rd generation 45 L/C with factory stag grips, nickel plated and unfired. Produced in the 1980's. I just can't bring myself to shoot it. :uhoh:

queen 4 life

my queen
S&W model 57-2 41mag blued with a 8 3/8'' barrel:cool:
dad won it in the early 80's in a gun raffle never been shot still in box with all papers
twister

I've purged my safe of all its queens.

I'm moving (slowly) in the direction of minimalism.

A still in the mummy wrap new Enfield No 4 Mk II, plan to pass that on donw to 50 Freak Jr. (Planning to work on the Jr. part tonight:evil:  )

But pretty much everything else I shoot including the other enfield No 4 MkII I took out of the wrap a few years ago.

Did I tell you I like enfields.....Even had an enfield in 50 bmg once....but that's another story.

My Colt Police Positive Special (1912-13). I still shoot it but not a lot. It's not a safe queen in that it is not pristine and protected. It is a well-worn and (in another lifetime) frequently carried service piece that still amazes me with it's accuracy. I only shoot it with standard pressure ball or wadcutters so, if that's what I'm shooting that day, it goes out for a spin. If it's magnum day, she stays home.

safe queens

My safe queens are:

NIB HK P7M8
Browning hiPower (without a scratch or mark I can find)

Luckily I have the same type pistols that I use so this are put away.

My Colt model M1991A1 Stainless. I bought a second generation, pre-ban Glock 19 two years ago and ever since then the .45 has spent most of its time in the safe.

My 'safe queen' would be just a simple ruger 22 pistol.
I inherited it from my father who had my grandmother
buy it for him new before his 21st b-day (in the late 1940's).
It has been restored by the ruger factory and is like new.
the serial number is 5XXX. It will belong to my son someday.
a great gun and a great story. (I will try to attach photo)

Got a couple that are NIB, but I don't shoot much anymore. When I do go, it's usually whatever I have rounds for, so the AK sees a lot of range time.

I bought this Old Model Trooper with 6" barrel used some 30 years ago. The original owner carried it for a few weeks for a security job that he had but hadn't fired it. I put a box of ammo through it and that was it. It shot great but I had another Colt MKIII Trooper that had some wear on it so that gun got shot while this OM stayed at home. Its still too pretty to shoot.

safe queens

your childern will spend the money they get when they sell your safe queens for pennys. you are not going to live forever, shoot or sell and get something you will shoot.:banghead:

Gold Cup

I don't really consider any of my guns to be "safe queens", but there are a few that I don't shoot too often. The main one would be the 1970's Colt Series 70 Gold Cup in blue that has the original box, paperwork, and tool kit. My grandfather bought it from his brother-in-law, then sold it to me in 1991 or 1992. I bet between the three owners, we haven't put more than 400 rounds through it......I don't shoot my M1 carbines very often, either.

Not my most expensive gun - but my favorite. Browning BDA .380 - just love the look and feel of this gun.

Aside from antiques that I'd be a complete moron to shoot, I'd suppose my "safe queen" is a 1911 Luger. It shoots fine, but it's OLD and if something breaks, it would be expensive, and it'd never be the same again.
I've got other guns to shoot.

Yes, I have a safe queen. It is an original issue Kimber Custom Eclipse II from their Custom Shop given to me by my son. This gun has received an action job (didn't need), magwell, new grips, and tungsten guide rod. It shoots well but then I got a stainless Wilson Classic and later a two-tone Wilson Classic. Now the Kimber is a safe queen. I do use it as a house protection gun at night just so it can get out of the safe but it rarely gets fired anymore.

Good shooting and be safe.

I hated the idea of safe queens until my collection finally grew enough to where I can't shoot and clean them all easily. Now, I have a virtually unfired perfect Yugo SKS as a safe queen (it's brother is a shooter). Also, a M38 Mosin arsenal refinished and perfect in every way that I've never shot (it also has a brother that is a shooter). Then there's dad's sporterized Mauser in 30-06. These will all go to my son one day. Everything else gets shot as much as possible.

As some of the other fellow have mentioned, I don't have any safe queens per se but have a few that I don't get out and shoot as often as I ought to due to having too many options

I really ought to shoot my old '67 Python more, and my Sig 229 rarely comes to the range with me

A very nice S/42 1936 Luger, bought when I was 17.....that would be 1972
