What to Hunt next has been a day long conversation in our shop

Were freezing up , again here, and its cold enough to be "for good" this time.

These days are spent getting traps ready .I wasnt in the groove this time last year, 1/2 moved back over here, but my stuff is all here now, my snowgo runs fine and my Bro inlaw Joe is one ready hunter

Since we do have our "Stuff" together this freeze up, were not missing a beat, and all the prep work I did this summer shall now pay in easing our way through willow banks and ready made log sets. had to move my old line a bit, as a couple guys work kinda too close , and since I didnt set a trap around here for 8 years, I did the moving. You move, you lose is appropriate here~~LOL!!~~

We also talked up Wolves and other fur, but since freeze up has been so late, and we couldnt be more "Ready" the fishing ladys set down their nets and took up needles. they did their mesuring and stiched any little rip. me and Joe pitched in and did some softening and strecing and a little bit of scraping.

They didnt decide how to cut them, they may make a Wolf skin Parkee, maby just a couple dozen ruffss...well see, and I'll post.

Sewing up last winters furs is a great way to kick off theseason with some warm stuff...hats, mukluks, mittens, parkees, and to make crafts for sale, to buy more gas , to hunt more Fur......

Soon its gonna be dark, and checking traps/icenets is what me and Joe can do, with some young guys/sons daughters along.

Whats next for you?

I haven't been bow hunting, damned skeeters have been bad and I'm a wuss. Gun season starts in a few weeks for whitetail, but I'm more of a waterfowler and duck season starts the 31st. :D Gotta book a snow goose hunt today, too, for my buddy and his kid and me. We do that once a season, usually, good outfitter here on rice fields. All the public goose hunting, what there is of it, is done near roosts in the marsh.

I have to go set my hog trap, too. I try to wait for cool weather. Set it 3 weeks ago or so, first cool front, 3 days later it was 95 degrees and, of course, I caught a nice boar and sow and they died in the trap from the heat.:banghead: Whadda waste, but the good news is, there's about 20 million out there where those came from. Need some pork in the freezer, though, and those dead hogs miffed me off. I can't get down there to check the trap every morning, usually check it twice a week. It's a 25 mile drive and my van don't get real great mileage.

Deer hunt

Going to South Texas for my annual week long trip with 8 friends.

Deer, deer and more deer, I think we have the longest deer season!!!! When deer season ends I'm looking into squirrel, duck and other waterfowl, (for the first time) and then spring time brings 1 month of turkey.

Making a scramble out of town on Nov 14th first thing in the morning.
Hopefully I'll get myself a mess of squirrels, maybe even a hog.

Deer w/crossbow and fall turkey w/shotgun in Ohio, been rotating every couple of days so i dont get stuck in a funk...then some days i do hunt both with my crossbow.

Deer ends at the end of the month but I don't much care....

Waterfowl starts Saturday and I was prepping gear today. I'm freaking pumped!!

My son and I have been hunting grouse since Mid-September.
We will do so again, if it ever stops raining and snowing. I jumped four on a friend's land the day before the rain and rain/snow mix started but didn't get off a shot. Son was home sick that day.

Mid-November it's Michigan's rifle deer season.

Deer, Starts Oct 24 D16 in San Diego

My aimpoint mount failed this past weekend on my S&W460V. Striped as me and some buds where trying the gun out in Vegas. I ordered some Warn High mounts for it and they get here Thurs. I am going to the range that night to get it sighted in again. I cant wait to hunt deer with a pistol.

I will be backpacking in Sat spending the night and getting up early for first light. I got 5 bob cat tags as well so I will be trying for a cat on Sat. I am taking the Encore in .223 for cats with iron sights.

Wish me luck.

got to get ready for my late december rifle coues deer hunt, then have an archery muley/coues hunt in january during the rut.

had planned on hunting more and fill my mt. lion tag, but between work, school (masters degree) and family life (wife is expecting our second in early november) I have not had much time to get out other than a few days at the beginning of early archery deer season in august/september.

hoping to get some yote and bobcat hunting in before the new addition to the family arrives, but that is a wish and not a reality so far.

I will be hunting for whitetails this Sunday for opening day, don't really plan on shooting anything unless it is real big, but on Oct. 30 I am taking my dad out elk hunting for the weekend to try and get him his first elk.

Whitetail

Going on my first real hunting trip on Nov 1st. Hunted last year locally, but this time I am headed to a buddy's camp. Couple miles down a dirt track. Springfield, Maine. Crossing my fingers. Wish me luck
