What's your preference and why?

The only pocket protector in a J-frame I have, or will need, is a 642. I have shot a 340, made with 'Expensivium', loaded with something unwholly from a .357M box of CorBons - and it was miserable! No grip to speak of, so it slapped the poop out of my hand... far worse than any of the .454's I shot in my old SRH.

Of course, if I want a 'better' .38 snubby, I always have my 2" 10...

I'd go with the 340 M&P due to the night sights and the dark matte finish. The PD would be my second choice.

I'd carry .38s in it though. I can shoot +P .38s out of ultralights pretty well for defensive use. With a gun that light, I couldn't rely on any kind of accuracy with .357s.
