Here ya go, when it's snowing outside. 2 3/4" AA hull, win 209 primer, 26 gr. 800-X, down range DR-XXL, and 7/8oz. Lee keydrive slug. Nice crimp at 50/60lb wad pressure. They shoot well outta all my shotguns. Use for multipurpose utility loads and 3 gun. My load data use at your own risk.CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Why so much wad pressure? I reload for targets and I use zero wad pressure and get perfect crimps every time.......

hard to say, big flake powder-different wad-different hull-different loader. dunno really all shotshell recipes are different. all i know is if i do any less i dont get a good crimp or i get a collapsed wad or hull.

Possibly the wrong wad then? Issue becomes if there is TOO much pressure, eventually the wad will expand back giving you crimp that can open up. I have had that happen when I tried putting 10# of you-know-what in a 5# bag so to speak. The crimps "tented" upward letting pellets leak out and gave poor performance.

never had a problem with loading cycling or accuracy. never had a crimp open up. have had some loaded upward of 1.5 years. i am not collapsing the wad at this pressure it has been verified by a cut open loaded hull. i don't think the pellets will fall out since its a 7/8 oz. slug.

in the second pick there is a loaded hull right beside the components with a good pick of the crimp. you can be the judge. ymmv

this isnt a load that is in a book per-say. its one i have come across online and one i worked up off of known load data from older manuals using 1oz of shot and 800-X. then picking wad type/height by volume to get a good wad height/fit for the crimp. crony at 1300 fps. will cycle autos even an old a-5 on light setting but not heavy setting. have put roughly 200 of these down range through several shotguns and they work well. just sharing for the sake of it. i have seen several loads calling for heavy wad pressure and i assume this wad is no different then those i have seen.

If it is safely working for you, have at it. With modern plastic wads, wad pressure really isn't necessary; that said, if you were using fiber or felt wads, then a certain amount is need to ensure proper seating.....

i agree to a point. however if using a hull designed for a strait wall hull in a tapered hull or vice versa then to seat the wad on-top of the powder properly, wad pressure is needed. also depending on wad strength it may or may not push back to open the crimp up.

Y'all must be in north Kansas. Down south we had a 2 minute snow this morning. Huge flakes, but it wasn't even long enough to go downstairs. :uhoh:

Alright moved on to the hot stuff. Win AA Hull. Win 209p. Waa12 Wad, 38.0gr. HS-6. Lee 7/8oz Keydrive slug. 1550 FPS
